The Only Real Type of Revenge

A few months ago, I was introduced to the work of @tata1, a professional calligraphy artist in Korea, through a number of KR friends. His work is excellent and takes a playful and innovative twist on an age-old craft.

Calligraphy, in several countries, is used as both an art-form as well as to depict poetry and important sayings or adages. I try to live my life according to very specific tenets and when @tata1 offered to illustrate the favorite sentences of Steemit users (similar to @sochul’s image - Sochul So Cool), I pounced on the opportunity.

So the result is the cover image above - 성공이 복수다 // sung gong ee bok su dah. “Success is Revenge” in Korean is a shortened phrase that I employ quite a bit in english - Success is the BEST revenge.

“Why this phrase @hansikhouse? Why so negative, why so intense?”

I'll tell you who this phrase is for.

This is for all the people that underestimated me over the years.

This is for those that talk shit and smack behind me for whatever selfish reason.

This is for friends and family who thought I should take a “safer” and “more secure” route in my profession or personal choices.

This is for everyone that looked at me like a used car salesman when I told them about Steemit and STEEM.

This is for those who undermined my position to get ahead themselves.

This is for the many that treat me strangely because I don't like mainstream distractions.

This is for anyone that brushed aside an idea or excitement that I thought could do some good.

This is for everyone who projected their insecurities, anxieties, and jealousies onto me.

This is for my younger, less secure self that worried what others thought of me.

This is for the everyday me that gets overwhelmed by societal and familial doubt.

This is for the future me who might want to call it quits while I'm ahead.

Success is Revenge.

This phrase is what gets me through the daily grind. It helps me deflect the negative mojo of many things and people around me. It constantly reminds me that one day, I’ll be doing exactly what I want and WINNING at it. This applies to myself as much as it applies to my friends and family who may want to enact a bit of revenge by succeeding in life.

So that’s my motto. Maybe you can put it to good use too.
