Steemit Subcommunities and How They Could Work

The Steemit community is growing as each day passes. It has it's own rules, language and value system. But the overall community is not always so easy to engage with and participate in. The blockchain code, the rules of upvoting and how to earn STEEM are not always easy to understand for the new comers; nor is it always a priority for content providers who simply want to have their creations be valued and appreciated.

So many people are so used to using Facebook and other kinds of social media that they unfortunately bring certain expectations to this platform, only to find frustration and disappointment. This is understandable. One feature that makes a large community more useful is the presence of subcommunities. The larger community of Steemit is mostly concerned with the rules of how to gain more STEEM or with how to work with or around the code and how to control or gain influence within the system. This is natural human nature for any system.

Subcommunities could help those who have special areas of interest that they want to support or engage in, but that don't trend much or get much attention. Subcommunities, as I envision them, could be built around certain tags, with a certain number of participants who are willing to dedicate their talents, time and upvotes to that subcommunity. It would require group leaders, moderators (or enforcers) and rules of engagement in order for it to work.

One example could be the ever growing interest in the exoteric knowledge that is flooding the web, but not being given any attention, for decades, by the mainstream media. Exoteric knowledge is the information being communicated to people who assert to be in contact with extraterrestrial or extra-dimensional beings. A subcommunity would consist of the coming together of a few people who are willing to explore the subject, write about the subject and upvote the content. For each person involved in the subcommunity, there would be rules of engagement such as agreeing to dialogue on the posts created, upvoting those posts and the resteeming of those posts.
