This is our entry for the Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest - №. 2 - Homes! being run by @customnature.

This is the front door of an old stone building that had for many years sat derelict when Capt'n and Wench decide to explore it and the surrounding land back in 2012. DSC05424.JPGPhoto taken by Capt'n with a Sony Ericsson W810i (best mobile phone camera Capt'n ever owned).

Sitting on the corner of two major roads (Liberton and Gilmerton), surrounded by bus stops and not far from Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, Good's Corner has been passed daily by many, many people for well over one hundred years.DSC05427.JPG

Apparently built in the mid to late 19th century by one Alexander Good. A joiner by trade he came to live in the small village of Nether Liberton where he and his sons ran a thriving joinery and builders business for many years. The name Good's Corner is directly related to Alexander. Prior to building his home the site had been known as the Bawbees Houses.DSC05426.JPG

The house was a state when we entered. Clearly, it had been derelict long enough for vandals and feckless teenagers to leave their marks. But not so long that it had become an unsalvageable ruin.DSC05413.JPG

Well. Ok. It was pretty bad inside. 044.JPGThis was what was once a kitchen.

At least the stairs were safe enough to climb. If you were careful and didn't mind getting dusty boots.052.JPG

Upstairs had some interesting grafitti.049.JPG

In making this post we became intrigued as to the fate of the building now in 2018. After a bit of digging on the tinterwebs we discovered that the site is being regenerated to provide student accomodation.
