Deaths return to life in Indonesia

in #strange7 years ago

In a strange and horrifying way, the inhabitants of a village in Indonesia celebrated the harvest by digging the graves of their dead and making them dress to walk around the village with them.

There is a close connection between residents of the village of Turajan, south of Sulawesi, Indonesia, with their mothers, and sometimes they keep bodies for weeks or even years before burial, according to the British Daily Mail.

The burial of bodies in the village does not mean that they will remain underground for ever. It is not long before the burial process, so that relatives of the deceased exhume, decorate and shave her hair and make her wear new clothes.

"It's our way of showing respect for the dead, there is no mourning, and this is a moment of joy and joy for all, because we are reuniting with our dead, we are trying to honor them and at the same time get their blessings for the harvest."

No one knows exactly when these strange rituals began to deal with the dead in the village of Torajan, but National Geographic suggests that the tribe, the first written language, was established in the early 20th century.

In any event, inscriptions carved on ancient wooden tombs show that these practices date back to at least 800 BC. The tribe does not consider people dead after their funerals, which are usually luxurious, and last for several days.
