BANG! - Flash Fiction

It was aimed at Earth. A satelitte with the shape of a canon at the end. It appeared overnight. No one knew who was responsible for it. The only hint was a website, one that popped up in a new window whenever a search engine was accessed. There was a countdown and a shape of, what looked like, a disco ball on thebottom corner of the site.

People didn't have much time to react. The countdown was only six hours. Calls were made. Countries worked together to share whatever surveillance they had. But it didn't help. One minute the sky was clear, the next this space cannon appeared, ready to fire on Earth.

There was only 2 hours left. Four large countries agreed to attack it at once. Missles from all sides. What choice did they have? With less than an our to spare the missiles were launched. 

A red light shined at the top of the satelitte. Then it split into four lasers, one for each rocket. They all exploded around the satelitte. One minute left. There was nothing they could do.

Men and women watched as the countdown said zero. Everyone looked up. There was silence at first. Then

BANG!

The sound echoed through the Earth. People closed their eyes. But they felt nothing. They opened them. There was confetti. Large colourful pieces of confetti that swirled through the air. It was enough that it covered most of the planet, a show for everyone watching.

Then music started to play. It sounded like techno. Very upbeat. Happy. 

People looked around confused before they saw it. A large spaceship that entered the Earth's atmosphere and landed in the middle of a populated city. Three aliens got out, with what looked like, smiled. 

It was their welcoming party
