Friday or Fire-day: Tita Juls the yuppie

Friday morning.

Tita Juls stared blankly at the crossword puzzle in front of her. She had nicked it from the donut shop this morning, where she was buying her morning requirement – coffee. Usually it would give her brain cells the kick start it needed, but today was a slow Friday.

Well the crossworld puzzle is unusually difficult for this particular newspaper, she reasoned to herself. She would often be done within an hour, enough time to finish breakfast and get on with the day job.

Tita Juls managed to work on a report, pleased she was at least knowledgeable in the cutting and pasting methods of excel. Still, she trudged ever on, emailing people, and reading her horoscope in between.

During another quiet hour, she decided to use the spare time to view and read through Steemit. She was in the process of learning about Discord and Ginabot, when suddenly an extremely loud wailing sounded all around her.

She looked up from what she was doing and looked around the office but saw nothing unusual.

_{What was that sound?!}

The sound continued, and it gradually filled her small ears, and beat rhythmically on her ear drums. She held her hands over her ears, but still the booming sound persisted, giving her dull throbbing in her temple. It seemed to be coming from everywhere, and Tita Juls imagined for a second it was a psionic attack.

Fire drill! One of the utility personnel yelled, wearing the designated reflector vest.

Psionic attack, in my dreams, Tita Juls rolled her eyes and sighed. After lingering for a few moments to make sure she had securely closed her Steemit account, she followed her fellow office friends out the fire exit.
