THE TRAGEDY OF AFRICA(PART 1): A TALE OF TWO RICH NEIGHBOURS AND A LEAKY ROOF

There were two rich men who lived in a neighborhood. They both had equal resources to build good houses and take care of their respective families. The wise neighbour built a good house with a good roof. The foolish neighbour built a substandard house with poor quality roof.

A couple of years later, the foolish man's roof started leaking. Every rainy season the foolish man would send his family to stay in the house of the wise neighbour whenever it rained. He continued doing the same thing year after year, rather than fix his leaking roof during the dry season, until the patience of the wise neighbour and his family was exhausted.

The wise neighbour and his family eventually began to show their displeasure at what had become an annual ritual of the foolish neighbour sending his entire family to take refuge in their home whenever it rained. The body language of the hosts was clear: they were no longer willing to play host to the foolish man's family, as they saw that every few months the foolish neighbour would marry a new wife and buy brand new cars, living large, lavish, extravagant life.

One rainy season, the wise neighbour and his family locked their gate, denying the foolish man's family access to their home to take refuge from the rain. The foolish man called a community meeting to protest the inhuman treatment his wise neighbour was subjecting his own foolish man's family, by refusing to take them in when it rains. THIS IS THE STORY OF AFRICA.
