Elias had planned the mugging but he was scared. He had stumbled upon emails his wife of 3 years- Ava and a senior manager at her office. It was all flirty and emotionally glib. He was sure this would lead to an affair; if it had already not started. They had danced together and had lunch several times over last 2 months. Elias and Ava had been drawing apart since the accident last year. His left foot had been crushed by an out of control car but he had manged to push Ava away.

Elias had come to his uncle Cord's diner for advice. Cord had a violent past, he had spent 3 years in jail. Recently Cord had settled down; buying a diner and running it with minimum staff.
Cord came over to join him, carrying two light beer cans. After exchanging pleasantries Cord asked. "You did not come 20 miles just say hello. So how can I help you? And lay it straight please. Not that I am not happy to see you Elias, in fact it is good to be talking after so many months."
Elias told the whole story- "They have lunch at this Resto-bar every Friday. He parks his car in the basement, I have been there- no cams inside only on the gate." Cord chuckled. "So you want to .." He drew his index finger across his throat. No.No! just a mugging- maybe break his nose and beat 'em up a little. You have some contacts, eh?
Cord wiped his face with his hand visibly smothering a laugh. "You blundering idiot. The limp in your leg has pickled your brains." Elias puffed up to protest but Cord smacked his hand on the table and continued. "You are selfish and childish. Shut UP And Listen! You spent nearly 3 months at home hobbling around, becoming bored and sour. So Ava leans on someone else and you blame it all on them. Think boy and tell me Did you love Ava ever?"
Elias took a deep gulp to stall and think. "Yes I did and I still want her."
Cord now softened his tone. "Elias you get as good as you give. Try to win her, make her life easy, sex more enjoyable for her, talk to her ask her, do what she wants for a change. Then if she still turns away I will arrange this "encounter". But you are giving up- On yourself more than Ava. And I have been there- you feel like shit!. So don't throw crap around when all you need to do is Man Up."
The difficult thing was to start changing his routine and posture. Elias could cook, so he started there.
Making breakfast; first once or twice a week, then almost daily. He cleaned the bathroom and organized the cabinet, leaving more space for her things. She responded by cooking his favorite dinner.
Then he went to buy after shave. He sent her 3 pics from the store "Which One?" he texted and waited, half not expecting any reply, but his smile was a mile wide when it came- "Yech! go for PLAY-IT brands." That night the sex was awesome. The next day Ava quit her job.
It is three months now and Ava has a new job and is happily planning pregnancy. They visit uncle Cord every month.
