Alex

Alex checked his reflection in the dirty,speckled mirror. His white shirt was new, bought just for today, but it looked pale under the weary tube light. He had been meaning to change the tube for the past couple of months but hadn't got around to it. He popped the pills kept under the shelf and chewed on them.

He shaved twice,cut himself in five places and dabbed the aftershave balm he had bought the day before. He smoked to calm his nerves. He knew that parties like this, seldom starts on time. It wasnot as much a party as a get-together with everyone who had worked on his song, "The girl I feel in love with". After four months of restless hardwork, today he would launch his song.

traffic was very heavy but he drove slowly. He felt rich as he grasped the stitched premium leather on the steering wheel.
He parker his car in the parking lot slowly ad carefully. At a distance he saw Melinda. She was dressed in a shimmery white dress. She looked almost royal. She strode forward towards the entrance, her thick thighs straining against her dress. Alex too checked his smile in the sideview mirror and entered the entrance.

Everyone shouted Alex's name when he walked in through the entrance. Melinda stepped ahead,hugged him and thrust a glass of rum in his hand. normally Alex doesnot drink but today he thought "just onw drink".

She introduced him to everyone. A little later,a cake was cut and Alex launched his first song. Alex spent the evening drinking. Slowly everyone left. Miranda was the last one to leave. After she left, Alex sunk back into the couch and ordered for numerous refills. Things became muddy thereafter.

He woke up to a waiter staring at his face and asking him to leave. He walked to his car and passed out.

EMILY

When he opens his eyes next he sees a girl in the driver's seat smiling at him, "Hi" says the girl.

'Are you for real?' he asks, or is this again a dream?
'Are you Emily?'
No one answers.
His head swims. In the driver's seat he sees the girl again. The eyes,the lips, as if she has stepped out of his dream. She's Emily. She must be. He's sure of it.
'Are you Emily?'
'No I am dreaming?'
'I shouldn't have had the last bottle.................'

'try to sleep,you are drunk baby.' he hears the figure say.
And like an obedient child,he sleeps again.
He wakes up. The car is parked in a deserted area.
The girl was looking at him. The innocence has drained out of her face.
'Why?' she asks. She pulls out a hammer and kept it on the driver's seat. She smears a pink lipstick on her lips,as Alex described in his song about the his dream girl. Then she raises the hammer to smash his face with it.....

'Why?' shouted Alex out of fear.
'You have changed me in your song' says the girl
'But..But...you have left me all alone...you died that night...' he says
'still...the fucking song is about me baby and you changed us!' the girl mumbles and brings down the hammer................

Alex woke up with jolt. He was't hurt that much but his head my hurting. He was in the driver's seat of his car. It was parked outside his apartment. He got out of the car on all four and vomited promptly. He cursed himself for getting drunk so much last night and strained to think what happened the night before.
The party. Melinda. The launch. The waiter. The girl.......'Damn it! another dream' he said to himself.

He checked his phone. There were twenty nine missed calls from Rosy and 8 missed calls from his parents.
He called Rosy first.

'What the hell happened Alex?' asked Rosy 'I have been calling you since forever.
'I ....I got drunk last night' he said 'I only just got home,I will call you back baby'

damn! who was she? It can't be real right ? Alex grabbed his pills and closed his eyes...
