Between Life & Death - A Girl Living In The Middle Of War ( An Original Story - Chapter 6 : First Dead Body)

An original story about myself when I was a kid and how the life was when my country was in the middle of war. It's the second series that I am writing, but it focuses on a child living in the midst of war, that's why I called it Between Life & Death. The first series "Rejected Since Childhood" focused on my life at schools with classmates it was written from the first point of view while this one I have written it using the third point of view since I have found it easier to narrate the story.

My motive is not to grow sympathy for me but instead, I am just showing the reality as it is for children whose living with war condition in their countries. Consider circumstances to be even tougher than mine that I have experienced in my life. Hope reader will get out with something to carry on after reading this story.

The sun with all the bright light it usually gave, it wasn't enough to cover the everyday horror a person live there could feel.

Kids have to stay at home for a short period. Street most days empty and cars abandoned roads extremely for the first time. Barely you could see a citizen walking by. When someone needs something like food necessity or supplies, they send a kid or a guy to buy the stuff they require. Stores were opened for a limited time in the morning, and they get closed before sunset where the light could disappear and the door open to killers to start their mission in darkness. At least that was the case for a short period. 

Enemy troops were around houses all the time; watching every single movement here and there. Soldiers had to throw their uniform away or even burn them so that they don't get killed by the enemy. Anyone got seen with the suit, get shot directly without warning since they consider them an enemy too who's trying to kill them.

The mother took her kids to stay at her father's house temporarily until the dad comes home safely. Until the moment, they had no idea what happened to him. The mother couldn't have a peaceful sleep for an extended period of time. Since her husband left her to the battlefield, worries kept dominating her thoughts and soul. She would keep awake all night even though there is no light to see; she prays to god to protect her husband from any dangerous occurrence out there. She had a flashlight beside her were every time her father tries to walk somewhere at night she could light the way for him so that he doesn't fall and get hurt.

There was no more than ten kids in the neighborhood where the family used to live. The girl only has seen two girls around and only saw them once. She would spend most of her time playing with her twin brother. The family house is in a building that beside the girl grandfather's house. Boys usually play in front of the building, and since the girl doesn't have any friends, she would join them and play whatever they are doing. All that happens in the morning were it consider the safer period during a day.

One day, the mother wanted to spend some days in her apartment with her kids. She had a neighbor beside her who has one little girl. That girl is the same age as her daughter but the father put the girl in school earlier than she should be and the poor kid having difficulties understanding materials comparing to her mind growth. They would always yell and hit the girl when she doesn't understand school subject explanation. One of the night, where silent cover the whole outside world around, the girl's father was late for home and the wife was worried about him. Jojo apartment is facing the main street, and at that day she was in her mother room. Suddenly, she gets curious to look out the window to see that darkness outside, but she wouldn't know that she will witness her first dead body out there. A black car stopped from a fast speed and threw a body in the side street and left. Whoever was outside at the moment and heard the car noise came running to witness what happened. They saw the body and ran toward it. They tried to see if that person is still alive or not, but it look like it was too late to do anything for him. The girl walked to her mother and told her whatever she saw. The mom left to see what's happening from the window and then she left out to figure the current situation and the identity of the man. It came out that he was their neighbors; it was a shock for the family. That poor kids lost her father just like that in one day. Being killed and throw in such a way with no mercy was more painful more that the fact that he has dyed. 

The girl didn't know how to react with all what she has seen with her own eyes. It might only look like seeing a movie in front of her. Facing such situation with widely open eyes is all that you will be seeing this little girl doing every time she will encounter such a new scenarios that occur around.
