Between Life & Death - A Girl Living In The Middle Of War (An Original Story - Chapter 1: Neighborhood)

An original story about myself when I was a kid and how the life was when my country was in the middle of war. It's the second series that I am writing, but it focuses on a child living in the midst of war, that's why I called it Between Life & Death. The first series "Rejected Since Childhood" focused on my life at schools with classmates it was written from the first point of view while this one I have written it using the third point of view since I have found it easier to narrate the story.

A girl lived between life and death; she knew that was her destiny, but the future was an unknown for her; she didn’t realize that death can catch her in any time and place. Little girl under ten years old who could see this kind of horrible thing, blood and dead bodies, What future will be hidden for a girl in that kind of situation? All people around her getting killed for no reason like the murder wanting to eliminate as much as he can.

Her eyes were only seeing what can be seen. The neighborhood was as far as her eyes spot for the whole nine years she lived in there. All those scenarios started at an early age, suddenly all brightness that the sun cause every morning is gone with scary noises that dominate the nature’s voices.

“It was a war to defend our land, our dignity, and our home. The home that its presence only could bears and guarantee the fact of our existence in this world. No other land in the universe would respect and treat us, who been born in another, the same way our land does”.

This war started, and all soldiers are on the battlefield including her father. He’s not a commander, but you could say that he’s worthy enough to help assist and organize troops in the battle.The girl’s home looked different after the war began. The window is all covered with adhesive tape that been placed in the form of X shape. Now you might ask yourself, why such a thing been set in this specific way on a window? Well, while all these weapons outside in the hand of either enemy or land army, it could easily infect one of the glasses ending up hurting someone passing by with its shrapnel. So it’s for people and home safety and to make sure not to increase the number of victims where we know for sure that someone will get injured at the end no matter where you are.

Food and supplies were hard to get. What was making it even more challenging is the fact that you can’t get out outside frequently. It’s dangerous outside but even though the only man left in the family carries the burden of feeding the whole members. Electricity is gone, and with all these things going on, the life cycle was running since there is no choice but to continue living. School, there is no way to stop it, the kids kept going regardless of the situation. That girl with her brother continued their little journey of discovering life and the father having his fight in life which is surviving.
