From a Slave to a Master; a Memoir, chapter 4 – Here is where I began my journey
Excerpt: In chapter # 2 I described two paths towards enlightenment and said that I took both. Perhaps it was for the better, else I could not write about it and enlighten you with information, so you could make aware choices. From this post onward I will describe my experiences on the rational path, the second one as I referred to it in that post.
The first question that preoccupied me was- where to begin. I lived in the midst of a rational, logical world, religion did give any clue as to the true nature of the reality, workshops and seminars were far from my immediate reach, and I was looking for an anchor. After some years of exploration, I had no choice but to resort to the only place that was available 24/7 and free. My own inner self.

Two ways to begin your journey
Look at our modern world which compels us to do something in order to achieve a goal. We have been taught to first seek what we desire, then to look for the opportunities around us and lastly if necessary, fight to achieve them, to claim what we believe is ours. I call this approach – “The fighter attitude to life” and it places the individual deeply rooted in the world of duality. Whereas this way may reap some rewards, like an abundant life next to a loving spouse, it lacks the conscious creation of the reality. Therefore, it is doomed to lose its base and eventually collapse. Why do you think so many marriages fail to last nowadays? Why so many people have abundance issues, health issues?
The second way is to walk this earth and to create the “I”; to realize that there is no such thing as a reality and what really exists is “I”, the individual. The sights, smells, and feelings that you perceive with your six senses are a reflection of different aspects of your “I” and therefore enlightenment will be reflected if and only if this “I” will find the way to bring enlightenment out from within, the place where it resides.
How do you do that? What's the secret?
Amazingly enough, this so-called secret has been revealed time and again since the dawn of humanity and states, in plain and simple words – know your Self!
When we buy a sophisticated electronic device and we want to make good use of it we first need to learn how it works, the function of the little buttons and the various ways to utilize the device. The same goes for the Self. Before we begin to manifest our dreams we must learn how this divine device – called the human being – operates. Therefore, the first step of the process to enlightenment is a conscious knowing of your Selves.
This Self that I refer to, is not some kind of an elusive entity that is hidden in the subconscious. It is not another part of you that reveals itself only at night in your dreams and nightmares. Rather, I am talking about your personality, the "I" that you are so familiar with. This self is comprised of your daily thoughts, your bursting emotions, your lasting feelings, your belief systems and general perspectives about life.
If you want enlightenment to show in your reality, then dedicate your moments to examining your life. When you feel down and blue – ask yourself “why?!”; when you experience a tragedy ask yourself “why did it happen to me?”; when you are mistreated at work ask yourself “why don’t they appreciate me?”; when you feel sad and miserable on Friday night, staying at home alone, ask yourself “why am I feeling like this?”; when you are terrified by the news which speaks about wars and terror ask yourself “why am I so influenced by the news?”; when you have a huge and ugly fight with a relative ask yourself “why am I reacting like that to them?”; when you look in the mirror and cry because you see an ugly fat reflection ask yourself “why do I see myself as ugly and why am I so saddened because of that?”.

All the answers that you will find will reveal to you the different perspectives you have about life. At the bottom of them all, you will find one that is very common which will echo in your mind: “I am not truly loved. No one understands me. I am alone in this world”. This root belief permeates all your other belief systems and therefore is reflected in all your experiences.
The truth is simple, but you will have hard time to accept it
You are loved. You are always loved. When you disregard yourself or belittle yourself or hate the person you see in your mirror – especially then – you are very loved. And the sooner you connect yourself with that inner truth of Love, the sooner your life will change.
How do you do this?
Fake it! Imagine you are a movie star in this grand and international film. You are doing the main scene and everybody’s eyes are upon you, admiring you, waiting to see your acting. You breathe deeply and then it comes out. You are feeling like the most loveable person in the world. You are experiencing a joy from within because you know that all is really OK, and that you are really loved. God loves you, your friends love you and wow – you begin to love yourself! "I am faking it", you say, "is it real?"
Yes it is! More than you think.
Life is simple. And when you feel loved you realize how true this can be. Do not make it difficult, keep it simple. When you find yourself unbalanced, worried, disturbed, just remind yourself that it is YOU who is in control. You are the player so start faking it and know that soon the fake will become your reality!
In the next posts of my memoir I will elaborate more, and in detail, about some ways that would help you to get to know your Selves and change your life to match your dreams.
Until then, keep it simple and remember, your enlightenment is now.
right now i'm still searching of who really am, i meditate everyday emptying my mind from internal thoughts, and resetting my brain to a new version of me, so it's better to be lost yourself from the crowd to find yourself into a state of mindfulness. :)
in the other word, for became a master from slave we need to know who am I and where am I. When we get the answer of this question, i think it can be a good reason to move on to create good life
in my religion Islam, the basic task for human have been explain. When human came to this world, instantly human will be to leader to take care this world from chaos, war, and other problem
I think about leader problem have been explained in every discussion in every communities in the world, so the assign for us is to make it real and make straight way to life
I am not good for explaining about it, because I am not the specialis about this problems
thanks u sir to post about it, so we make understanding together about the different of sosial views of every nations
Indeed.
When each person becomes the leader of his/her own life, we will not need any external leaders, we will not need mediators to God, we will not need religions. Fate will be in us, God will be in us.
Thanks for this important comment, my friend 👍
excactly sir, thanks a lot for the appreciation. the explanation above i just take it from my holy book of the Quran. in fact in my belief, the God is so close to us. it almost same as your explanation, just a bit different, but same view of our life ways.
Indeed, rather than concerning other's stuff we must take time to discern about the one who is much closer to us, the "I". In that way, it will be easier to us to connect with the others.
Knowing oneself
Great @nomad-magus
Indeed.
You speak the words of the prophets @marjomar
"the fighter attitude to life".
Yeah, this brings me to the case of Soul resonance. How things manifest for us depends on how our Soul chooses to experience itself.
Many years ago there was a time where I opted for the 'hard work' approach, but no matter how often and for how long I applied this method, my results always ended up being even worse than with the 'less work' approach. So I wondered why, and in came to realize that my Soul was telling me in a roundabout way that this is not how it wants to experience itself now, hence my Soul didn't resonate completely with this approach, so it didn't bear fruits.
So, I went through the 'hard work' and discipline' method for some years, yet only to learn that this is not 'it' for me. My definition of discipline is defined by potential outcome as the exclusive motivation to keep us on track with the execution of an occupation which is 'against' our Heart and Soul.
So again, Soul resonance is a measurement of how our Soul wants to experience itself right now, and THIS is the driving force behind what manifests and what not. :)
Having said that, thought-made goals only create obstacles and paralyze us. Having a vision is without a thought-made road map. The perfect plan has no plan ;)
Good article!
Indeed.
And for many people, these words will mean nothing until they experience for themselves the effortless way vis-a-vis the fighter way. No judgment of course; as you said, sometimes it needs a hard lesson to learn the easy one.
Faking it effectively has to include a true and deep emotion and genuine belief in that you are loved. Thank you for sharing your path
Indeed. Good point, mate 👍
The emotion behind the fake is essential. Nevertheless, for some people the emotions will follow the fake rational thought.
@nomad-magus
Reading your writing, reminds me of a phrase "Life without reaching goal is nista, and dying in the fight for it is honor". Perhaps that kind of mindset we should cultivate in view of the purpose of life
Interesting.
There were times when people were better with a goal than wandering aimlessly, wasting their lives.
Thanks for sharing that parable.
@nomad-magus, I always love your articles. I agree that you should know yourself. Years ago I went for hypnotherapy to sort some things out that lay in my past. I did not exactly find the answers there, but it put me on a road of serious introspection. I came to the conclusion that, although I am an outgoing, even loud type of person, there was a frightened little girl hiding inside me. Once I recognised her, I started leading her towards the light. The first thing that I needed to realise, was that I do not have to be strong all the time. I can also depend on other people to love me. I am still on my journey, but with journalling every morning, I keep constant tabs on the real me. I am altogether a more satisfied person.
Ah, nice story.
And indeed, you have been assembling all your aspects. 👍
I am very impressed with what you say with the approach of Attitudes of the fighters to life
because Without a goal and a plan to achieve it, we are like a ship that sailed aimlessly and in the direction of life
for me personally. The hardest thing in life is not to go beyond others, but beyond our ego and ourselves.
Thanks for this @nomad-magus
Not necessarily. You will be guided by your spirit self. The rational goals that we put in front of ourselves don't lead us to enlightenment but only put hurdles on our way. This has been my experience.
it may be best for me to feel a very reassuring peace, maybe that's when I'm close to the Truth for a guidance. thanks @nomad-magus
Absolutely right and in my opinion we should understand the aspect of "I" because everyone is living with "I" aspect and if you are facing any issues in life then first of all you should concentrate on "I" aspect because you are the driver of your life and what you will think that you will going to intake so sometimes we have to change our vision to change our life and then we can once again walk on the path of peace. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
If you have right on something and you are not allow to get it then sure you have to fight for it to get it.
Not necessarily, mate.
Allowing it may bring better results in the long run. But again, I am speaking about enlightenment being the ultimate goal in life.
