Behind the scenes... Making of The Portal
I have made a few posts about my art now, mainly showing the finished product. After interacting here, with the steemit community it is now apparent that lots of people are interested in the process. So in this post i will take you through what went into this artwork.
My process is something that is still in development and probably will be for a while. So far there really isn't any order to it. Sometimes i start with a solid idea and other times i just start mixing colours.
This one started after i picked up some new paint. An couple hours can go into mixing paint, getting the right consistency and blending colours. But its half the fun!!
Okay so the paint is mixed. Now, what to paint? haha What a decision!! As you can see in the photo, i just started drawing concentric circles with a bit of a wavy motion to them.
This one looks like i got what i wanted the first time....Most of my artworks can have multiple sketches or different artworks on them. Especially in the early days... Value for money right :)
As you can see in the photos, with the technique i don't use any brushes. (except on the edges) So what do i use? Paddle-pop sticks, syringes and sometimes i even pour it right from the cup.
Im sure right about now your asking yourself,...So no brushes and it doesn't look like the finished artwork? What the Hell?
The finished effect is made with air! Or breath. I literally blow the paint around the canvas till Im happy with it. And yes, it can take hours. I started this technique a little while ago on much smaller canvas's. I still haven't tried using an air gun but Im sure it would work.
The trick with the style of painting is all in the consistency of the paint.

Thanks for the support @headlessjess :)
Amazing work! I love your technique, would love to try it. Is it just paint or mixed with something?
Thanks again @aishwarya Its just a mixture of acrylic paint and distilled water. Ive used tap water in the past and some paint changed colour when drying. And If the paint is too think its very hard to move around.
Ah, I see! Thanks for the info :) Looking forward to see more from you.
