How not to skip a boring class

in #story8 years ago (edited)

When I was doing my third course, we had those seminars on philosophy of science and this guy was like the most boring teacher ever, and all he did and said was pathetic. We had a long brainstorm on how to resist skipping his classes and that’s what we came up with.

Our week one was about Goths. We also spent the whole day walking around MSU (Moscow State University) in these outfits (the crosses are made of foil; the nail polish was specially bought for the occasion). It’s not habitual for our Uni, so people kept staring at us and taking pics. The teacher himself first didn’t get it. He thought this drastic change of style was serious and wondered how our families treated it. We said it was a rather welcoming change that had fully revealed our potential.

Week two was a celebration of spring and longing for summer. This is how 1 March in Russia normally looks like. Honestly, it was damn cold outside and a fine bottle of cognac just came in handy. We entered the classroom eating ice-creams and wearing panama hats. This time he realized that something was going wrong but still had no idea how he should react to that, so all the class long he was in half-amazed half-exasperated mood.

Week three was reminiscence on the 90ies in Russia. This is a kind of parody on what people used to look like and what to play with. At the same time we did look like cheap whores, so the security asked for our IDs and hesitated if they could let us in. The teacher entered the next stage and moved closer to Acceptance.

Week four was a gender research. My moustache and beard, no matter what it looks like, aren’t photoshopped. Wearing ties seemed fun and I chose this greasy way of talking to chicks (of whom all our group of 14 people actually consisted), accompanied by “promising” eyebrow moves. We also filmed a video that shows how, in our point of view, gentlemen pee. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to upload it on steemit. The teacher finally started taking pictures of us and trying to suppress laughter.

Week five was the Nerd Week: granny glasses (which our grannies had actually kindly lent us), baggy clothes, dirty hair, ugly shoes, sandwiches and partly rotten bananas, sweet tea in thermoses – that’s how we pictured it (I should say nobody even turned to or pointed at us, this look for MSU is rather casual). This day also showed that our disguise had become routine for the teacher. Unfortunately, as far as I know, he didn’t become more fun after that, but it has still been worth a shot, I reckon.
