TALES MAMA TOLD ME! WEEK 3

Moonlight illuminating, Children around the compound playing, dancing, singing and screaming to the fright of the creatures of darkness. Mama would sit us down,legs crossed, in smiles and the joys of bearing inquisitive kids she would start with the popular platitude!

Story! Story! Story!

And then the story began!

Mama Kufre held her ears tight with her right hands as she advised her child Kufre,
"Do not go anywhere, my son. You can play around the compound with the neighbors but please, do not go anywhere."

A stroke of a cane they say is sufficient to the wise. Mama Kufre packed her farm produce and headed to the market.

Kufre excitedly jumped exclaiming at the peak of his voice. He tried all the possible steps of dance he knew to express his happiness on the absenteeism of his mother.

Just in time his friend Asuquo came in. Happily, they moved out thinking of what possible way they could exploit the village and it's environs.
Then they decided to go hunting...

They picked up their traps, bows and arrows and off they were as teenagers.
They got to the bush and their efforts proved abortive as there was barely any catch.
Then a big antelope dived between them and pursuing the antelope got them into the forest.
They could not find their way home.

After moving about the forest, passing the same tracks twice or thrice, the aroma of a cooking meal plus how hungry they were, led them to an old Hut.

Behold! They saw an old woman stirring a pot of soup.

The old woman welcomed them and fed them.
Kufre did not have a second thought as he swallowed with heist and displayed his gluttony. Asuquo would hold his handful for long until the old lady was looking aside and would throw it off the window.

She insisted it was late and dark, that they stay till the next morning. But they knew that would get them into more trouble.

Then they started their journey home...
At intervals, Kufre would fall, unable to move to match up with the old woman who happened to be a witch, in her shrine singing in strange language,

Those who ate my soup! Those who ate my soup! Fall down and die! Fall down and die!

Then immediately Kufre falls down, Asuquo would sing in tears,

Gods of the little children, come and rescue us! Let my friend rise up and walk! Let my friend rise up and walk.

The session continued with the old woman chanting her song as Asuquo countered the spell with his own song... on and on and they got to the village.

Immediately they got to the village, they sighted a team of strong men already in search of them and they lamented, explaining their predicament...
They were rushed to the herbalist who cured Kufre of the poison in his body system.

MORALS

1. Do not disobey your parents. Kufre disobeyed his mother.
2. Do not eat at a stranger's home. No matter the Hunger, play smart like Asuquo.
3. Be careful of your movement and always watch your track. Kufre and Asuquo got lost because they did not observe their tracks.
