SONG BIRD (An Original Poem)

in #story8 years ago

Your voice
casts a certain
enchantment,
blowing
into the corners
of our minds
like an
indelible wisp

it's a
song that
sparks a
silly grin
casting out
our blues
and making
us, if only for a
moment, forget
the weary miles
walked in
our shoes,
life Is new,
it's true

as long as we
carry your
sweet song
in our hearts
the world is
a finer place,
bone china
and delicate lace,
cups always
brimming
with the
rarest tea.

leave us lifted
with each note
to savor,
every phrase
is a savior
that will whisk
wicked worries away.

Another sweet and welcoming poem describing how the impact of music knows no bounds. Music, especially the song of the silky human voice, is a universal language that opens the hearts of all walks of life from all environments. I don't know how many times I've been caught inside the vortex of an indelible wisp spinning and swimming in the ever changing fluctuations of a beautiful tuned voice. Just as relieving to our soul as the many exotic and flavourful teas that refresh our perspective on life as it travels through our body in a cleansing swoop. Music does the same. Good or bad days, just keep your ears perked for that uplifting and touching melody. Upvoted

Thanks, @verbal-d! Music is a miracle of creative expression and a true blessing!

Nice!

rarest tea

:-)
Cheers @ericvancewalton! After all, it is the little things in life, after all, am I right!?

That's all there is @robyneggs, a golden string of little things, simple moments stitched together.

Billy Holiday, Strange Fruit-
Southern trees bear a strange fruit
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
Black bodies swingin' in the Southern breeze
Strange fruit hangin' from the poplar trees

Nice song!

Lovely @ericvancewalton. Who is your songbird?

Thanks, @merej99. The .gif is Billie Holiday but the poem was originally written about the jazz singer Stacey Kent. My wife and I have caught a few of her shows locally and her and her husband Jim Tomlinson are amazing talents. They're not that well known here in the U.S. but are popular in France and Japan.

Beautiful poem.

I like the:

life Is new

Great use of a capital letter (even if it wasnt intended, it works perfectly)

I appreciate that, @serejandmyself, especially since you're such a talented poet yourself. I love playing with nuances like that. That's one reason poetry is so important to me, you can infuse so many layers of detail into it, not everyone is going to catch it all but sometimes someone does. : )

Thanks for the compliment, i see an example in yourself, so yes )))

The one i did today, was very experimental, but it was your work that reminded me of playing with the capital letters, so thank you =)

You're welcome! Your poem was amazing.

Any poem that mentions tea will speak to me. And I really love the alliteration at the end. :)

Thanks, I'm a tea junkie too. My wife and I owned an online tea business for about 6 years. We closed in 2011.

Really! Why did you close? That sounds like something I might end up doing!

The wholesale prices of tea from China started rising too much for us to be competitive with larger businesses. This was partially due to the growing middle class there buying more of the tea. It was a lot of fun while we did it and met a lot of very interesting people.
