Blockchain Time Capsule ~ 10 Predictions For 2050
Thoughts Are Seeds Of The Future
I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s watching Twilight Zone and Star Trek series reruns and was obsessed with all things Star Wars. As any hardcore fan of science fiction will tell you these bodies of work, in many ways, shaped the adult I eventually became.
Some sci-fi writers have had a fairly good track record predicting the future. This begs the question of how much their creative intention really influenced the future reality.
I’m a very firm believer in the Thoughts Become Things theory. If we hold a certain intention in our minds long enough often times it becomes action and then in the process world is transformed in some large or small way. In the spirit of this I thought it would be a fun thought-exercise to make ten predictions for the year 2050 and ask a few others to do the same.
How Blockchain Time Capsule Works
A. Make a post. B. Tag it with “timecapsule”. C. Copy the link to your post into a reminder (i.e.Apple or Google Calendar). D. Set an alarm for the reminder containing the post link in the "notes" section of the reminder for a specific time/date (in this case it’ll be 1/1/2050).
My 10 Predictions For 2050
1.) Governments around the world will adopt decentralized cryptocurrency in favor of fiat currency. After a brief experiment with a “centralized stable coin phase” governments will make the decision to rely on a true free market economy and allow their citizens to participate as they wish. Blockchain technology (paired with A.I.) will be used for everything from logistics to legislation.
2.) Technology and human biology will merge. Implantable and/or wearable tech will perform all functions of present day mobile devices (and much more). Full immersive virtual reality will be used in certain instances but will be deemed too disruptive and addictive. Augmented reality will be a staple of the future world. Large amounts of the population will willingly accept this tech-enhancement but some will not (see #9 below) eventually creating a fork in the human species itself. Gene therapy extends life but new challenges will emerge. CRISPR gene editing will increase both the quality of human life and extend it significantly. This will be accepted because global birth rates will begin a significant decline.
3.) Conventional and traditional medicine will combine to create DNA-tailored wellness plans. A visit to the doctor will amount to being scanned by sensors in the comfort of your home. A diagnoses will be made and a mixture of conventional and traditional medicines and/or treatments will be prescribed. A personal nutritional plan and exercise regime will also be suggested based on your own specific DNA.
4.) Artificial Intelligence will change humanity in profound ways. AI will be the ultimate tool to help solve some of humanity’s large problems, like climate change and nuclear proliferation. However, AI will catapult our technological evolution faster than we can keep up, sometimes causing significant “growing pains” in the process.
5.) You'll be rewarded for making a positive impact. AI will attempt to incentivize the world for the “greater good.” In some ways privacy, as we know it, may cease to exist. Some will be happy to accept this if it means a better world for all, some will vehemently oppose it.
6.) We will live in subscription-based societies. No one will own a car or even a large amount of clothes. You will subscribe to an autonomous transportation package and almost everything you use on a daily basis will be delivered by drone and/or robot. A.I. will know us better than we know ourselves. AI will analyze buying patterns and will use predictive algorithms to determine what you will need and when you will need it.
7.) There will be less land. Rising sea levels, as a result of climate change, will reduce the amount of habitable land. Global initiatives sparked by social upheaval (massive protests) will force politicians to begin to make reversing climate change a top priority. Still, it will take many centuries for the planet to fully heal itself. Super tall skyscrapers, cities within themselves, and vertical farming will make the most use of the land that is available.
8.) Intelligent alien civilizations will be discovered but it won’t cause global social unrest as world governments have long feared. We’ll actively be communicating with life elsewhere in the galaxy by 2050 and participating in some exciting cultural exchanges. Humanity will have established colonies on the moon and on Mars within the next decade.
9.) A Luddite backlash will erupt and there will be a conscious move to live simply and without modern technology. Pockets of self-sustainable communities will emerge across the planet that will shun the use of any modern technology, gene-editing, A.I., or implants.
10.) Meditation will be more widely practiced. Due to A.I. and robotics taking over much of the jobs humans perform today, humans will have more time on their hands. More emphasis will be placed on art, creativity, self-care, education, and spiritual development. Meditation will be seen as a vital tool to help humanity deal with the rapid pace of their continuously changing reality. For once we may be able to make amends with our past, accept our shadows, and evolve to a better and more mindful version of humanity.
Without a doubt, I believe that our current age will be looked upon as a low point of our species in many ways. This will be seen as a time in which corruption, greed, and short-term vision were at an all time high. It will also be seen as a time in which seeds of a better, more sustainable, future were being sown. The future is difficult to predict so we will how well we've all done when the reminders are opened on January 1, 2050! I’ll be 76 years old! Tick tock.

Yeah I obviously say it's our thoughts that begets reality in all fairness really and if we can definitely create a certain kind of musing that means that our creative intents can influence what will be, I think I'll like to participate and make my predictions, I hope my predictions can center on anything at all?
I'm looking forward to your predictions @joseduccus! Tag me on the post if you decide to write it and I'll support it with a full upvote.
LOL.. I am thinking 2050
Do you know how old I will be? Maybe scientist will just put my body in a cyborg or something of that nature. Well, maybe not a cyborg (those guys are scary.) I still watch Star Trek, actually there is one I think it is Deep Space 9 we are watching the series on Netflix right now.
A mystic whose work has really helped my life named, Neville Goddard said scify writers do affect the future and they have a responsibily for what they write. He contacted Aldous Huxley and told him this.
I read the above somewhere so it is from memory. :)
You never know @rebeccabe! They're going to be making huge advances in longevity these next few years. I believe what Neville Goddard said, I think Edgar Cayce coined the phrase "thoughts become things." Have you ever read any of Cayce's work? I'm going to look into Neville Goddard.
Of course, I have read Edgar Cayce work. The sleeping prophet. He was so advanced. One of my favorite stories he wrote was when he was going to get in an elevator and saw the aura of the people in there and knew not to get in. The elevator crashed. Don't know if he coined the phrase but Cayce spoke of group karma. It gets you to thinking about plane crashes and things of that nature.
He gave people healings with meds later developed.
Back to Neville he has had a huge influence in my life with manifestations.
He had an amazing gift. Come to think of it I think we've discussed him before. Group karma is really difficult for some people to understand but I think there's something to it.
I'm reading a book now I think you'd like...Passport to the Cosmos by John E. Mack, M.D.
Probably would I am into reading 4 books now. lol Plus one from kindle.
Just peeked at John's book on amazon it does look interesting. wow
I'm three chapters in and am impressed. It's all stitched together in a way I've never seen before.
Hello Eric. How are you? I have read some predictions that will occur in 2050. I think what you predict can be scientifically accepted based on the traits we see today. maybe in 2050 the paper money will no longer be valid and people will shop with the Cryptocurency . Have a nice day, friend.
Good morning, @elianaelisma! All is well and I hope the same for you. I think paper money will definitely be gone in the next ten years (maybe five?).
Very very interesting. I think point no 7 and 10 are really important. In the context of point no 7 I would like to add that seasteading will come into picture to cater the shortage of land. Also the growing population will be a major concern.
Great point @groynes. I see seasteading as an important piece to the puzzle as well.
Yes, thank u.

Impressive predictions sir. Our words shape our world and when we say it long enough, we see it manifest. Keeping an open heart is vital and being observant too. You have seen the trends of things and also observed how things are going by being well informed.
I should make my predictions soon sir.
Thanks, I'm looking forward to your predictions!
Those predictions above aren't far from being fetched and it's cool to me. There is this guy called @alexbeyman who wrote a novel(very interesting) on something like that, it was a futuristic novel and it really put almost all those listed above into play.
You'll always find me in no 9 sect, come 2050. 😁 😁 .
That is if Jesus Christ hasn't come by then, just 38 years in the corner. Not far.
I don't really have any predictions, I would have made a post, I also share in almost all listed above.
I'll have to check out Alex's work! I'm a big fan of technology in our time and place but I feel I may fall under #9 as well when technology gets that advanced. From what I've read there will be two classes of people, those enhanced with tech and those who shun it. The people who embrace A.I. will have one huge advantage (A.I.) but the Luddite group will have lots of little advantages. The Luddites' creativity, strength, and biological brains will continue on a natural evolutionary path whereas the other group will begin to diminish in these areas as they begin to rely more and more on technology. All will be good for the group that embraces A.I. unless the tech fails but lots of the little strange, charming idiosyncrasies that make us human will be lost to them. Those are just my thoughts.
Excellent review, Eric and you made very bold and optimistic forecasts. I especially liked the forecast that finally all governments will accept the understanding of the blockchain technology and cryptocurrency will be the norm of our life, it will be our time!
Thanks! This was just a thought-experiment for me. I had fun doing it. I hope others will participate.
Your predictions sound like they very well could happen! Will I be around to see it? I doubt it, hopefully not in any case, don't want to be that old ;);) unless there's a magic pill that will take away all the aches and pains AND make me young and beautiful again ;)
This is a great challenge @ericvancewalton!
Thank you @lizelle! I hope some of these predictions don't happen. Merging technology with biology seems like a bad road to take but I think there would be many who would disagree. It's strange to think that far into the future, especially at my age (almost 50). Time seems so much more precious now than it did when I was younger.
I definitely don't like the bit about less land but that's already happening! And I totally agree with you about the merging of technology and biology not being a good thing, messing with nature is bad in my eyes! Time will tell not so!
Love this predictions. I guess 2050 is even too long. I probably see this happening 2030. I see a great future ahead
Thank you. Some of these could definitely happen sooner!
Lot of these prediction will be a reality soon to be experienced
