Green Pastures part 3
After spending a couple hours properly triangulating the chopper Neo was typing as fast as he could and the hack was going swimmingly as the script was flowing on the screen. The clock was ticking but it all seemed feasible with Laura assisting him by adjusting the emulator they were planning to use to open a peer to peer line of communication. Timing was paramount if they wanted to delay the inevitable event of their arrest. They were seconds away from breaching the pilot’s firewall, the point of no return where the machine needed to be tricked into accepting the payload as routine data. Their hearts were beating fast and hard as though they wanted to escape their chests. For a moment they looked at each other communicating their hopes but also their fear that this unholy sex cult would never come to light. Should they succeed they would be heroes to some, terrorists to others in true whistle blower fashion. However, this was only one step torwards achieving that goal.
The s7otbidx.dll variant was an accounted for scenario and after the original wave of relief the felt from having succeeded washed over, they looked at each other with some guilt that they had unleashed a Zero-day event which could now be used for any purpose. The SondoXL virus would hijack many more PLCs, these industrial computers which control traffic lights and car assembly lines. It seemed ridiculous to use such a potent weapon just to get a lock on an FBI helecopter’s GPS but it was going to be necessary for the next phase of the hack. Besides the robotics knowledge and amount of reverse engineering it would take to outright hijack the vehicle was ridiculous. Aside from the GPS perk they had gained, the PLC were to be instrumental for hiding in plain sight. They couldn’t have done it without Dimitri and the others which Neo met during his time in Moscow last year.
We did it! Said Laura with a large smile on her face. They were both ecstatic, their eyes wide open from the Adrenalin rush. Laura felt happy at the chance that she might get justice for Melanie who disappeared at the hands of these Silicon Valley maniacs. These monsters pass for prophets of the technological age when prison is too generous when it comes to what they deserve. She thought about the last time she saw her at a Bubble corporate party. The strippers, the cocaine the disco lights; she could feel the loud bass going through her chest just thinking about that night. Melanie was wearing a blond wig. She went to the bathroom but was never seen again.
Laura are you OK?
Uh? Yeah sure. We are closing in on them. Going to use their own dragnet against them. It seems unreal.
It calls for a drink wouldn’t you say?
Absolutely lets go!
It was a weird feeling getting drunk into that bar like a student confident about her test results. Laura was getting a lot of attention from the men and also one woman. She took it but without leading them on. At one point she had a long friendly conversation with Neo. They talked about their dreams and aspiration, the sad state of the American dream as well as some TV shows like House of Cards which evolved into a conversation about the Kevin Spacey scandal. They then decided to hit the dance floor for about half an hour before they took a taxi back to their Hotel room.
LOVING THIS STILL.
Should be a hashtag involved here called #noqualms
Thanks, your encouragements greatly help me keep on going. Fleshing out these characters as I go. Every time there’s more to remember so I have to read the previous parts often!
Yes and it's evident U are. Keep it up my friend. Takes a lot to keep me engaged actually. =)
