I look at those tunnels and wonder who figured out how wide they could be cut without collapsing from the weight of everything above...

    It is an engineering marvel down in those caves. There are 40x40 foot bases that serve as pillars every 100 feet. The accuracy with that heavy equipment was amazing.

      Here is one. You can see the bases on the right there. Also, this is a roof that partially fell in. They left the debri on the floor. :)
