Why You Should Never Trust Your Best Friend. (Featuring @thegoldencookie as Author)

Men this one is especially for you. It is a tale of caution and you will soon see why. This is a story of my older brother Jan and his best friend Shane.

About a year after my birth we moved to a small miner's town called Carletonville. Jan was probably around 8 when he met Shane. Since the beginning they were inseparable, bound together by their mutual love of causing havoc and mutual hate of Theresa (my older and Jan's younger sister).

The reason for this hatred is that Theresa was about 5 and never left them alone (which could be annoying I admit) but she would also always get them into trouble by tattling on them just when they were starting to have fun.

As the years past Theresa grew prettier as did the number of Jan's friends who noticed this. To all of them he warned to stay away from his sister. To all but 1, Shane. In Jan's mind, Shane hated her and would never be interested in her. What Jan didn't know is that since Theresa turned 12, Shane would take her around the corner and kiss her.

This secret affair between Shane and Theresa went on for many, many years. Theresa fell more in love with Shane and Shane went on to get other girlfriends, each time Theresa's heart would break but no one ever knew that she liked him until she was 18.

Shane and Theresa rekindled their love affair around the time she turned 20. This time, Theresa was playing hard to get and continuously for 6 months told him that she had forgotten how to say "yes" when it came to being in a public monogamous relationship.

One weekend she was going to a church camp. With Shane still staying in Carletonville and us staying in Krugersdorp she decided to take me along so I could visit with my friends and also to help her with this special surprise. We showed up at his house, went into his bedroom when he was at work and posted a whole bunch of stick it notes to his ⧸⧸wall - all containing⧸⧸wall. all pertaining⧸⧸ the word yes.

Theresa left for her camp just before Shane showed up. She asked me to stay in his room and take a picture of his face when he sees it. (unfortunately with as many phone switches I have had the photo is lost to the world). The moment he saw it he started crying happy tears.

From there their relationship grew. A few months later he asked her to marry him. At the wedding, my brother toasted that he was completely unaware of their relationship until the engagement happened and that he thought Shane disliked Theresa. He joked about how he should have probably made it clearer that his sister was off limits but welcomed him to his family.

Moral of the story: Make it clear when someone or something is off limits, your best friend might just go there.

why you just not reblog post of @thegoldencookie? then whole profit will go for him.

I asked @crazymumzysa to feature me because I don't have a very big following or big reputation. This way a bigger group of people will see my work. But thank you for the tip.

but with new "reblog" feature you would be exposed to exactly the same number of people... or actually greater (your followers + followers of people which reblogged your post). You would also receive all funds - not only half.

Noisy, I have only been told about the reblog an hour ago. Yes, this will be far more beneficial for the Authors to use and I am sure many will do so. Thank you for bringing it under our attention.

I fail to see how this is a bad thing? It sounds like a great love story, a happy ending, and there didn't seem to be any hurt feelings either... maybe I am missing something?

This didn't end up badly because my brother wasn't aware of the love affair in the beginning when my sister got hurt. I would also admit that there is a small sense of betrayal when things are done behind your back. Other than that you are right. But I do know of other stories where best friends will steal your girlfriend or wife... cautionary tale as I said in the beginning.
