This is just so well written, the premises well established, and the description picks up the reader and carries them along in the moment. You capture a child's horror at the idea of first being trapped, and second being left behind, alone, in the dark, so very well. The horror aspects come in hard, and then grows with each sentence, building to the tussle with the clawed monster beyond the wall. It creates a believable sense of a tale that could have happened, and then the open ending, allows for the reader to fill in their own worst possibility, did it really happen, a vision of what had happened to someone there? A ghostly visitation? A demon born of the horror of prison? Or a scared kid, blacking out after a fall. Very very well done!
