Storyteller's Collective, Volume Two

in #story8 years ago

Storytellers have been with us forever. The observers and preservers of human experience. Using fact and fiction, farce and fear, they draw us into worlds they weave with their voices.

And we fall, willingly, under their spell.

This series will be a showcase of Storytellers I've come
to admire and a spotlight on folks I've just discovered.

I hope you enjoy the selections and add your favorites.

Stuart McLean takes us back to when Dave Meets Morley. For those of you not familiar, Dave was a roadie in his younger days. He eventually settles down and runs a second-hand record shop - The Vinyl Cafe. He and Morley raise their kids, Sam and Stephanie, among a community of characters that will make you laugh, cry and sometimes both at once. With these two clips, we see how these two started their journey.

(For the record, Dave and his family are fictional, although the stories sound so realistic it's sometimes hard to remember that tidbit.)

I had to chuckle when I checked out the next story from The Moth. It's titled First Kiss by Eve Engel. It fits nicely with the prior stories, although in this case, the story is true.

First Person Arts presents Bernardo – “Against the Odds” who explains what happens when "Lightning strikes and trees explode" and he "summons his Superman instincts and saves the day."

Don't forget to share your favorite Storytellers with the rest of us. And for those of you who have made it this far, I wonder if any of our in-house writers have ever made the leap from page to stage? It would be fascinating to learn about the process if they'd be willing to share.

In the meantime, enjoy!

Yeah, it was a shock. One of kind and I, for one, will miss him.
