I Just Found Out - I Have Been Watched

I just found out. I have been watched!
It never crossed my mind that I might be under surveillance, but it turned out that I am.

We are living almost in a core center of the city, in an older, not so big building with about 15 apartments. A few years ago my husband was elected as a representative of the building owners.

Elections are not strictly but usually held every several years when a new representative is elected or the old one reelected. It's a voluntary position which doesn't bring any special benefits although quite an additional obligation with lots of responsibilities.

To me, sometimes it looks more like some pure janitor's work although it might be better described as some sort of superintendence. But it's also somewhat an upright position because of the given trust from other building co-owners.

However, the thing is that he takes care that everything in the building function correctly (e.g., by organizing regular service for the elevator and stuff). He also represents the owners for all legal stuff, in front of the town council, and manages the funds in an extra fund created for the mutual expenses.

A few days ago, later in the evening, he had been called by two old ladies who live in one of the apartments because of some smaller flooding caused by a broken pipe that stretches alongside their apartment from the upper floor.

While he was there trying to call and organize some emergency plumber service to arrive as soon as possible, they threw at him the whole bunch of questions about our kids and some other everyday life happenings.

When he returned home, I heard him saying right from the door, "They dragged me through confession through and through!"
Oh, oh!!! I know what does it mean!

When he finally calmed and sat down, I asked him what questions bugged these two old ladies the most.
- You know, - he said, - in fact, you are their biggest enigma!
- Especially, - he continued, - because they don't know what are you doing that late at night.

Hearing it, I burst into laughter!
- How the heck, - I asked him, - they know I'm doing anything late at night?

He grabbed my hand and took me to the room windows.
- You see!?! - He was pointing on the building across the street.

Our building is across a newer one which is wholly covered with mirrored glass. In its reflection, our whole building can be seen or at least that one side where our and the apartment of the two old ladies from one of the upper floors are.

In short, they have a perfect view especially at night, and they know precisely which neighbors are sleeping and which are still awake.

OK, so now when I know that I am under surveillance, I'm thinking about making some plans in a manner, - the empire strikes back! 😜
