BROKEN

On a wooden bench she sat, hands placed on her cheeks as she ponders on what she had done to deserve such ill treatment, she had given him all the love she had, she had tried so much to make him a king, went against family orders, gone against the warning of the creator to the point of giving away what meant everything to her.
The pains of the previous night was too much to bear, he came home soaked in liquor and with one struck, he left a scar on her fragile soul, what had she done to deserve this brutality? Love had kept her locked in his house,

" you have to leave, you have to go, this man is not good for you"

These words that friends and family told her sank deep into her soul, but how was she to leave, she had come to being addicted to him.

Her soul was void of happiness, pains and sorrows became her best friends, I could hear her say

" I can't take this again, if this is what love is all about, I give up"

She had been pushed to the wall and all she could do was bounce back, she could not take it anymore, the pain was too much, her heart was tearing apart, with tears in her eyes she walked up to him and told him how she felt.

" Its time I move on with my life, I can't hurt you though you hurt me, I've come to realise that you don't love me, today I leave never to return again, but I want you to know that I will always love you"

With this last words, she made for the door as she walked into the thick dark night that stood waiting for her; where her tears were lost in the rain. True love had just slipped out of his hands and it was too late for a second chance.

True love knocks but once so I was told.
