The International Bank of Accounts issued a statement confirming that the growing volume of information sent via payments in the virtual currency could disrupt the Internet.
The financial experts believe that programming virtual currency platforms and dealing with retail financial transactions require the operation of huge capabilities. As far as the proliferation of these operations, the entire technological infrastructure may be broken down, from smart phones to major networks.
Experts said that building the global economy on the basis of virtual currencies is dangerous, with the lack of confidence among members of society and the fragility of existing agreements in this regard.
Experts pointed to other disadvantages faced by this system, including instability and manipulation, fraud and electronic attacks targeting the stock exchange, which leads to the fall in the price of currencies, as well as the enormous energies consumed by payments of this kind.
