RE: Day Four ~ Seven Day B&W Challenge ~ Original Photography ~

Stinky the Cat has a friend named Little Kitty. She is tiny like the F. nigripes cat. But she has only one toe on one front foot, and two on the other. We call her the "three toed kitty." She sharpens her single claw on the wooden porch floor like a circus knife thrower on a spinning stone wheel. It is something to see.

Sort:

Kittens remain with their mother till the age of 9 weeks.

We never knew Stinky the Cat's mother. But we met her at around 8 weeks. So she may be from another planet. Sometimes we think so. Other times, we think she might have had a mother, mis-timed it all, and is actually from here.

The claws on the cat’s back paws aren’t as sharp as the claws on the front paws because the claws in the back don’t retract and, consequently, become worn.

Around these parts, when a cat lays on his/her back and tries to push you away, we call it doing "Bunny Death Kicks". I think that it is good Stinky the Cat does not have sharp back claws that don't retract. I might not have a gullet left...

The oldest cat on record was Crème Puff from Austin, Texas, who lived from 1967 to August 6, 2005, three days after her 38th birthday. A cat typically can live up to 20 years, which is equivalent to about 96 human years.

Deviating from Stinky the Cat here (she left the room to go see what a commotion was), I once had a white cat named Suzy. She lived to be 21 years old. Got hit by a diaper truck on Jersey Avenue. My mother was convinced Suzy was tired of living, and committed suicide. "She'd crossed that road thousands of times, with no trouble. I think it was intentional."

Like Suzy, my Mother was a true classic. (Unlike Suzy, my Mother did not get hit by a diaper truck.)

Uh Oh, Stinky the Cat's back. Don't mention the above, please.

One reason that kittens sleep so much is because a growth hormone is released only during sleep.

Maybe I'm hanging around cats too much. I must be proximal-ly osmoticizing in cat DNA. I seem to have this same problem as well. Especially in the morning on work days when the alarm clock goes off.

The richest cat is Blackie who was left £15 million by his owner, Ben Rea.

Cat food is expensive. I often suggest to Stinky the Cat "why don't you go out and get a paper route or something". She never listens. Just looks at me, and goes back to watching the dust bunnies or door doinger once more. Wonder what Blackie's secret was?

In 1987 cats overtook dogs as the number one pet in America.

Stinky the Cat is still sitting here reading these with me. She just looked up at this one, and muttered: "What took so long?!"

Some Siamese cats appear cross-eyed because the nerves from the left side of the brain go to mostly the right eye and the nerves from the right side of the brain go mostly to the left eye. This causes some double vision, which the cat tries to correct by “crossing” its eyes.

Cats' hearing stops at 65 khz (kilohertz); humans' hearing stops at 20 khz.

Stinky the Cat just looked at me and I could swear she said "what". I think she's messing with me now. It must be getting late. I'm talking to a cat about cats and they're answering back. Might be time to call this a night and pick up tomorrow where we left off. Good night, sweet dreams, catfact robot person.

The most expensive cat was an Asian Leopard cat (ALC)-Domestic Shorthair (DSH) hybrid named Zeus. Zeus, who is 90% ALC and 10% DSH, has an asking price of £100,000 ($154,000).
