STEEM WARS: DAY 5: ColorChallenge Wednesday Yellow: TEAM AUSTRALIA Sergeant Scooter
Today is the day of yellow.... As something slightly different I would like to introduce you to some of the native animals of Australia proudly resplendent in all of their yellowness..... (and after my mic drop yesterday, I needed to represent the team better!)
Budgerigar
The humble green and yellow Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) is native to outback areas of Australia. This vibrant little seed-eating parrot is now the third most popular domesticated pet in the world (after the dog and cat) and has been bred into different variants of colours and sizes. The male of this species can be distinguished by its blue 'cere' at the top of its beak (as shown in the picture below). The wild, native variant of this species is quite a bit larger than the domesticated variety.

Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo
The yellow-tailed black cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) is a large cockatoo species native to the south-eastern part of Australia. It has distinctive black plumage which is fringed by yellow and also has a distinctive yellow cheek patch. The adult male has a black beak and pinkish red eyerings.

Orange Bellied Parrot
The orange-bellied parrot (Neophema chrysogaster) is a small broad winged parrot that is found in the coastal fringes of Victoria and Tasmania. This cute little fella is mostly a yellow-green colour and has a distinctive orange belly as plumage. This bird is highly endangered, with only 14 birds being recorded in a February 2017 population census. The main reasosn for its decline have been habitat clearance and predation from feral cats and foxes.

Southern Corroboree Frog
The Southern Corroboree Frog (Pseudophryne corroboree) is another endangered species of AUstralia. This bright little frog is found in the New South Wales highlands at altitudes above 1300m. Its striking yellow and black longitudinal markings make it one of our most easily recognised frogs, but also indicate the lethal alkaloids within its skin. These protect them against predation.

Regent Bowerbird
The Regent Bowerbird (Sericulus chrysocephalus) is a medium sized bird found along the eastern seaboard of Australia from central Queensland down into New South Wales. It has yellow bill, black feet and yellow iris. The female is a brown bird with whitish or fawn markings, grey bill, black feet and crown. All male bowerbirds build bowers. Regent bowerbirds in particular are known to mix a muddy greyish blue or pea green "saliva paint" in their mouths which they use to decorate their bowers. The male builds an avenue-type bower consisting of two walls of sticks, decorated with shells, seeds, leaves and berries.

Tasmanian Tiger - Thylacine
The Thylacine (Thylacinus potens) is the largest known carnivorous marsupial of modern times. The thylacine resembled a large, short-haired dog with a stiff tail which smoothly extended from the body in a way similar to that of a kangaroo. It was the dominant predator in Australia until approximately 3500 years ago when the dingo was thought to be introduced by asian se-farers.

Since then, the Thylacine was slowly outcompeted on the Australian mainland and became endemic to the island of Tasmania as there are no dingoes or other large predators in Tasmania. After European settlement, the Thylacine was heavily hunted and was pronounced extinct after the last known animal died in a Hobart Zoo in 1933.

Thylacines are still thought to be roaming Tasmania as there are large tracts of land, particularly in the SOuth-west f the state, that are not inhabited by humans. There have been numerous sightings and I have personal accounts of seeing something resembling the Thylacine in the wild (more on that at another time).

These are just some of the fantastic and interesting animals containing yellow inhabiting Australia.

I'm guessing each of the birds will peck your eyes out, the frog will emit a liquid that causes instant paralysis, senility and incontinence, and the Thylacine tiger, well that speaks for itself? Are the Budgerigar being exported to other countries as sleeper cells, ready to peck out the owner's eyeballs as soon as @sirknight issues the keyword into the receiver implanted in their brain? Very cunning!
The frog is actually very poisonous.
The budgies have been sent around the world for year. You have now revealed our secret for world domination.
