Moving Beyond The Seven Day CyclesteemCreated with Sketch.

That to me is what my vision of Steem is moving beyond the seven day cycle. That is where the most value is to be gained and the least amount of competition exists. It’s having to get creative because there is no fully-fledged press one button solution. Where if you see a way to add value you should just go for it not wait for someone else to do it for you.

Many see Steem as a place where the all mighty reward pool is somehow going be raining Lamborghinis one day. I see the reward pool more like absence is to YouTube. Great at giving you something and a starting opportunity; but, never enough for the value you could bring or the effort you put into it. You can also get “demonetized” out of nowhere and really should not be dependent on it at all.

While I’m sure Absence has been responsible for many people buying a Lamborghini it’s just not a great business model to live or die by. That is why any smart businesspeople making videos are not dependent on it as they once were. They work with companies, have brand advertisement, sell merchandise/other products, patron, and so forth. This is a hard lesson many are learning over the past few months of the bear market we have been on the receiving end in our own ecosystem.

One of the hardest things for the time being for creators is working with business outside of our bubble and beyond cryptocurrency. They always want to know your numbers on a platform like YouTube, Twitter or Instagram. Steemit.com itself is also rather shit at giving you an insight into how your own content is performing. Even if you meet or exceed min. amount of followers to enter into programs outside of our bubble most companies just don’t consider Steem to be a “qualifying” platform.

Thankfully people see a way to add value and make their own Dapps when the main platform is missing it. Back in February of this year, I started posting the bulk of my latest gaming content on a Dapp that makes it look more of a personal blog https://enjargames.dblog.org/.

I still want to be creating content years from now and posting when it’s ready and not just to collect daily auto upvotes. I’ve also been putting a lot more time into SEO and thankfully for traffic to that site I now get a better picture with google analytics. Along with sharing and editing older content from time to time. All of which the reward pool as an entity gives zero fucks about because it’s every 7 days bro and not long term thinking. Yet, many bloggers outside of our bubble would think you where nuts for not doing these things.

This platform opens up a lot of opportunities for people to earn and the reward pool is just a fraction of that potential. Yet so much effort is put into debating over curation %, bidbots, and other stuff. For whatever reason, that’s the current thinking for many. Not creating new opportunity where those things are just breadcrumbs to what they are earning from them.

Personally, I rather continue my mounting failures to reach out to gaming companies regarding my shit game reviews and other tactics I’ve been deploying. Along with the current dumpster fire of a project @enjargames and all its glory because holy shit this platform needs some decent games. Will I be the cat to deliver the goods on either front? Doubtful but it’s far better than waiting around for the bear market to bull away. Along with being on that 7-day cycle so many are addicted to like their weekly in real life paychecks. Successful people in life want to add as much value to as many as possible not hope for moons and Lamborghinis.

I think you bring up some great points and this place is very much a work in progress. I do think the 7day window as well as the lack of a proper search function holds us back and I hope we continue to explore ideas to fix these things. Thanks for being a part of this Enjar 🙂

I look forward to that future. Then people can stop being such yoyo’s to the Steem price. Now if this site just had YouTube recommend next list why they never escape this site again no need to search!
