SteemTipper to Help Mass Introduce Cryptocurrency to the World via Social Media

in #steemtipper6 years ago (edited)

Massive disruption is about to be introduced into the world of internet finance and old world banking institutions. In the past, with Facebook, Twitter, etc, your account information and browsing history has been sold to corporate interests and the account you were given was free because you were the product being sold. As Andreas Antonopoulos once said “the death of democracy discount” was not announced. That’s why practically everyone fell for it.

The original announcement...

Some other websites were doing the same (particularly news organizations like the New York Times) would run AD’s on their pages to decrease production costs. Some responded with the use of AD blockers, to which some sites fight back by requesting white listing their AD’s if you want to see their content. This old cat and mouse model is about to die.

SteemTipper inverts this entire model of using AD’s to fund websites with clicks. SMT’s (Smart Media Tokens) creates the infrastructure for any website to integrate into the Steem blockchain and receive rewards through votes. But in this case you don’t have to be a programmer to use the API. You just use your Twitter account to send and receive Steem. It allows you to participate in the Steem blockchain and send and receive payment directly.

What is unique about Steemit is that when you have an account, you aren’t paying out of your own pocket to tip (or upvote as it’s called on Steemit). It’s built into the investment pool as part of your voting power which regenerates at 20% daily. It’s an ideal platform for microtransactions. It’s also solved the transaction fee dilemma with no fees but instead uses a small rate of inflation to increase your voting power based upon your level of investment in Steem.

Those of us on the Steem platform might want to consider joining up for SteemTipper using your Twitter accounts. This is different from the Steem platform in that you’re funding this account yourself. The advantages for all of us is that we get to technically disintermediate centralized authority such as Facebook and other social media while introducing the benefits of Steem to the rest of the world. At this point, it’s still the case that less than 1% of the world is involved in cryptocurrencies. But by airdropping Steem into the Twitter accounts of other users it will spread more rapidly…

Yes, i have certainly underestimated the impact that SMT can make. And SteemTipper looks like an interesting option to tie into existing content communities. But if i understand right one would need to effectively transfer Steem to the vault which is used for upvoting and not your voting power like inside steem. i

That's correct.

Guess Dan doesn't believe in his own platform.

Going forward, Block.one will be using Medium to publish new content about EOS.IO. You can find the link to the new blog here: https://medium.com/eosio/ . Here you will be able to find new posts, tutorials, and upcoming community opportunities all in one place. You will still be able to view old content on our Steemit blog.
