Shiba-inu is an ancient dog breed, originating from the mountainous regions of

The story of Shiba Inu

Having very similar ancestors found thousands of years ago, the Shiba Inu is far from being a new breed! Towards the end of the 19th century, hunting became a more important hobby, and the Japanese crossed the Shiba with European hunting dogs, such as the English Setter.

Akita Inu comes from Japan, specifically from Akita Prefecture. This canine, very old, was made for hunting. As the years went by, he was very good fighting and guard dog. Today, it is considered a treasure.

The Japanese heritage assiduously protects, preserves and defends it. Akita Inu comes down from Dewa and Ichinoseki. Dewa is now "the American Akita", while the chinoseki is the Akita Inu we know. It has been like him since his "creation", while Dewa had only a few similar traits.

Shunned for the benefit of foreign dogs, the purebred Shiba Inu threatens to disappear in the mid-twentieth century. Fortunately, hunters decide to save this breed by breeding several lines. We will wait until 1934 for the standard of the Shiba Inu race to be established. Three years later, this dog is declared "Natural Monument".

Today, Shiba Inu is primarily celebrated as a pet. It is also a star of the internet, especially through the same (viral phenomenon) Doge, which represents a Shiba Inu with surprise expression.

The character of Shiba Inu

The Shiba is a bright and very intelligent dog, known for his loyalty and energy. A real energy ball, it makes a very good companion dog and can be used as an alarm dog if needed.

Sporty, this dog will be perfect with children, who will enjoy playing with him. He will also be an excellent performer in canine sports, such as agility. But if the program is to stay on the couch to take a nap, it can also accommodate from time to time! It adapts very well to the housing and the rhythm of life of each family.

You must know that the character of Shiba Inu is unique. It is sometimes compared to a cat for its desire for independence and its tendency to always want to be clean. He remains however very affectionate and faithful to his master. Moreover, he gets along very well with cats!

Shiba Inu may have some sociability problems. That is why it is very important to take charge of socialization, from breeding and school to puppy. A positive education can help, but to avoid being too dominant with other dogs, it is advisable to sterilize it at an early age.

His dignity and "majesty" make him a reserved dog, calm, patient, dignified and gentle. Indeed, he knows how to be affectionate with the members of his family. Even when he is happy, his joy and his love for his masters are shown in a simple and calm way. Concerning his home, he will know how to keep it. Children do not risk anything as long as he knows them. If not, he may seem suspicious and reluctant. He fights well and too often with his male counterparts.
Finally, if a human makes a too abrupt gesture next to him, he can react rather brutally, without hurting. Yes, his samurai instincts still stand out, one way or another! His little face makes him original. He does not have a character to stay alone.

If he has to do it, he does it, but it must be said that these are not his favorite moments. Intelligent, he knows how to cope with all situations, even the most unforeseen. He quickly understands what is said or what happens and therefore reacts according to the moment.
