Steem Summit's Singing Competition

With the release of Steem Summit's Call for Performance Judges as the official start of pre-summit activities under performing arts, this post is the first of the four competitions under Steem Summit's Performances. The performances will highlight the best of Cebuanos' passions and talents under the four categories in performing arts namely: singing, dance, beatbox, and spoken word poetry. This post serves as a call for entries to choose the performances to be showcased in the summit proper.

If you are a Cebuano, someone who has been living in Cebu and its vicinity, or someone who scheduled his/her April 22, 2018 to be part of Steem Summit, then you are invited to submit an entry for this singing competition. The organizers know that Filipinos can sing. It's time for you to show what you've got in singing. Who knows? The judges might choose you to present in Steem Summit!

Expression of Gratitude

The organizers of Steem Summit would like to express their deepest gratitude to @donkeypong for his generosity in sponsoring the rewards of all Steem Summit competitions. To the Cebu community, let's be grateful to @donkeypong for being a great mentor and supporter to us all!

One worth mentioning is the expression of @starkerz, @stephenkendal, and @promo-steem to feature Steem Summit in London Cryptocurrency Show. The organizers are now working to formalize everything. Please stay tuned for more updates about this!

Competition Guidelines

The same with Steem Summit's Call for Art Submissions and like all competitions, there should be guidelines to be followed. While the guidelines are not requisites to assure your winnings, these would help the judges in choosing the winners. Following the guidelines will also make your entries official.

• Resteem this post. This will serve as exposure of the competition to all Cebuanos who wanted to join. The organizers don't want to hear stories that many wanted to join, but the information didn't reach them.
• Record yourself singing your song of choice. Make sure that the quality of the video recording is good. Meaning, your voice is fully audible. Also, make sure that your face is seen at least once in the video. This is for the judges to verify your authenticity.
• Make a post for your entry. This will serve as your official entry in Steemit. You can upload the video on YouTube or Dtube, depending on your choice, and embed it in your post. Make sure to add a short description of your entry; just a short description.
• Use #steemsummit and #singing as tags. Those tags doesn't have to be the main tag as long as they're included. You have the liberty to choose the three remaining tags. This is to make a noise about Steem Summit.
• Comment below the URL of your post. This will lessen the work of the judges. This will also allow everyone to marvel your voice.
• Preserve your voice for April 22. If you will be chosen to present, make sure that you're at your best to present in the summit proper.

Competition Criteria

This will serve as the basis for the judges in choosing the winners and rank the entries based on the scores given to the individual entries.

Voice Quality - 40%
Diction and Timing - 30%
Stage Presence - 20%
Overall Impact - 10%

It is up to the judges' interpretation of the criteria above that will determine the winners. The organizers have no influence in choosing the winners. Also, to avoid bias and influence of choice, the judges don't know who are the two other judges in this competition. The rankings are based on their opinion only.

Rewards

There are multiple rewards in this competition so everyone is urged to give their best.

• Post Payouts - This is inherent to every post in Steemit depending on the upvotes. This can be your gateway to enter openmic contests. There are other contests for singers out there. You can showcase your singing prowess starting here.
• SBD Rewards - This is courtesy of @donkeypong. All SBD rewards are from his donation.

Champion - 5 SBD

First Runner Up - 3 SBD

Second Runner Up - 2 SBD

Now this is getting interesting! Based on the expression of support from prominent individuals in Steemit, competition rewards might increase in the coming days! We'll keep you updated on this.

• Steem Summit Performance - You will be performing in the summit proper so that will be an added exposure for you.

Deadline

The contest will run for one week. So, the deadline for submission of entries will be on March 23, 2018 (next Friday) at 9:00 PM. The announcement of winners will be done on the next day; Saturday, March 24, 2018. Heads up judges! You are only given one day to rank the entries. To avoid cramming, please check this post from time to time.

To those who wanted to submit their entries, please avoid from submitting on the last minute. This will allow the judges to properly consider your piece.
