Children teaching us life lessons

in #steemsummit6 years ago (edited)

Time flies extremely fast and kids grow up even faster so I try to capture moments whenever I can - from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

This is my entry for @steemitsummit on their Call for Photography Submissions.
All photos were taken through smartphone with my niece as the subject.

Sitting like a lady. 😎
She's too cool to JUST be prim and proper, and life's too awesome to be just one thing. She wants to do ballet and karate, gymnastics and parkour. She wants to be a singer, a dancer, and a surfer for now! Why not?

We always tell her and her brother that they can be anything they want as long as long as they're not hurting themselves and other people in the process, and that they should also choose to be a good person.

Rest; not quit.
She got so tired from dancing all night and from the day's event so she took a break in the middle of the dance floor. But look at the eyes, she was watching the people on the dance floor, ready to get back to her feet when the water break is done. 👌

Kids being kids.
I honestly didn't know what they were doing but they were having fun and it seemed like a good thing to capture. Maybe, it doesn't have to make sense all the time or maybe we don't have to make sense out of everything all the time. Just enjoy the moment and not think too much. Overthinking has killed more laughter than a lame joke. 😆

These are simple moments that show how children teaches us life lessons. Lessons that we mostly forget.

That's a wrap! Hope you enjoyed and I'll leave this quote here.

While we try to teach children all about life, children teach us what life is all about.

Thank you @steemitsummit for this opportunity.
This seems fun and I'm glad to have participated.

A great post, I specially like the bit about "Rest, not quit". I think if this was taught in schools, it could change a lot of childrens view on things they find difficult and they could just take a break and come back to it, when they are ready.

I agree. We keep being told to push and run all the time but nobody tells us to take a break. I find that it is during those break times or when you're on the sidelines that you see the bigger picture and you notice details you've previously missed.

A lot of people burn out easily because they forget to pause. They think resting makes them lazy. lol.
