New Physics in Love N°1, The Perfect Couple—Higgs Boson & Top Quark
What do Physics, Cookies, and Spelling have in common? Read our news update, and you'll know it!
The relationship between the Higgs and the top quark is particularly interesting because the top quark is the most massive particle ever discovered. As the ‘giver of mass,’ the Higgs boson should be enormously fond of the top quark.

The title has it all, right? So, let me tell you some more!!!!
Terrible, terrible story! Perhaps, the BEGINNING OF NEW PHYSICS! And if you think about physics, you are 100% right! After five years of serious solitude, Hugs Blossom has been spotted misbehaving with at least two of the Top Quarks.
Now, before the misspell is gone, have some Hugs Blossom cookies!
Higgs boson is an elementary particle in the Standard Model of particle physics, suspected to exist in 1960, and proven as existent in 2013. As of June 2018, it has been confirmed that it is attracted by a top quark and an antitop quark, the heaviest known fundamental particles. This discovery could help scientists better understand why primary particles have the mass they have.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) performed two experiments:
— Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS)
— A Toroidal LHC Apparatus (ATLAS)
Today, the Higgs-top quark decay, called the "ttH signal," was published in the paper with a statistical significance measured at 5.2 sigma.
