RE: Trans Fats And Heart Attacks: A Study Of Fat From People's Butts

in #steemstem6 years ago
Our bodies don't work in such on/off, black/white, states. They exist in a world of grey, where some amounts of something may not be bad at all, but when a tipping point is reached all hell breaks loose.
I like this description but you forgot that the body has its own defense mechanisms to cancel any external substance, so how we know if a substance is harmful unless we reach that breaking point? Anyway, it's known that trans fats raise LDL blood levels thus increase the risk of developing a coronary disease dramatically. I think that the study lack some significant data, but that's just my opinion.
Sort:

Your description was of a black and white example and is incorrect. What amount of transfat raises LDL? How is this determined? How much carbohydrates are the people also consuming? What type of trans fat?

Do you see the issue?

Black and White statements don't provide sufficient information.

Trans fats are not, "good". However how bad they are in all cases is not as clear. There could be more tolerable situations than others.
