CT News: Giant Robots and the Future of Humanity!

If you thought that giant human-controlled robots were just something you'd find in movies, you'd be sorely mistaken as of late as the robots of the future are being made in the present and the one I'm going to tell you about today is the Method-2, a 1.6-ton, 13-foot tall robot made by Hankook Mirae Technology in South Korea.

This robot isn't a completely new phenomenon as it did already make an impression on Jeff Bezos at Amazon's MARS conference last year. One thing I can say is that it is incredibly cool and something right out of the Mech Warrior games and Avatar movie.

According to the company, the Method-2 can mimic the arm, hand and finger movements of its pilot. However, leg movements must be made by the robot's operator / engineers. It also still needs quite a bit of work considering the fact that the entire robot is held up by two enormous chains. These chains are required considering that it doesn't have the best balance.

Development of the Method-2 didn't come cheap. In fact, it cost more than $100 million. Oh great, I've got $100 million sitting around for a giant robot where do I pick one up, Best Buy? Not so fast buddy, sorry to be the bad news bear but the robot itself is not for sale unfortunately.

However, do not despair, the clouds come with a silver lining. According to the company behind the Method-2, they say that a version could one day be used for disaster relief or military operations.
