Is Teleportation possible?
Hello Steemians! Hope you are doing good. I have seen lots of references in the ancient scriptures about the concept of teleportation. I have seen the scriptures saying that people disappeared from one place and they appeared in another place. I'm able to relate this to the concept of teleportation that modern scientists are working on. If modern science finds a perfectly working way to teleport yourself from one place to another who wouldn't be happy. Imagine if you can reach your house immediately after your work by disappearing into your office and appearing in your house. This will be really cool right?
Trust me, the modern science says it is not a theory anymore. It is going to become reality very soon. In order to teleport humans from one place to another, the research is going to take several more years. But if humans are lucky we might even see a good breakthrough in this century itself. In ancient Hindu scriptures like Ramayana and Mahabharata, there have been several places where it mentions about people being able to disappear from a place and appear in another place. "Vyasa" who was the author of Mahabharata had a skill where he used to appear in front of his mother whenever she calls him. The same goes with "Gadothgaja" who was the son of Beema and Idumbi. These scriptures are very old and we find most of the details in these scriptures unrelatable with the current world and modern science, it is good to give it a thought right?
Another special mention about the concept of teleportation is from the famous movie Star Trek. This also gave researchers more insight on this topic and made many people curious about the possibilities. It will be quite cool to see the teleportation happening.
What if I tell you scientists are already able to teleport?
There have been lots of research works happening throughout the world in the area of quantum physics. We already have a breakthrough in modern science where even though we are still working on sending an entire object from one location to another location, we are able to send every microscopic level of details about the object from one location to another location in a fraction of seconds in the form of data. With this microscopic level of details about an object, scientists are working on recreating the same object in the destination location with the help of quantum physics.
Researchers in China have made it happen in the Photon level. Last year this was a major breakthrough where they were able to teleport a photon from Earth to one of the satellites. Read the research paper [1] to know more details about this new breakthrough.

This achievement has been a big breakthrough in the field of particle physics and quantum computing.
How was the teleportation accomplished?
There have been similar breakthroughs earlier where teleportation was achieved at the lab level. The teleportation made in China last year has been the longest distance of teleportation accomplished so far by the researchers. In this concept of teleportation, it is not the exact object that is being teleported to the new location. It is just that the same object is recreated in the new location. As normal people, we might have several questions in our mind. Some of the commonly raised questions are as follows:
- What will happen to the object in the source if a new object was created in the destination location?
- If it was possible to recreate a new object in the destination location, is it also possible to create a decoy of the same object anywhere?
- Does that mean that there is a potential possibility that we will be able to have copies of the same object in different locations if the source object is not destroyed?
- When this is applied to humans, does it mean that we will be able to create copies of humans using this technology?
There have been lots of such questions raised by common people to the researchers. Some of these questions have been answers by the researchers who did this study. The results were amazing. All the research works made so far are on the static objects, we have not yet seen any breakthrough on moving objects or even humans for that matter. The below video explains most of our questions regarding teleportation.

Coming back to the topic, this article [2] also explains a lot about how Chinese researchers were able accomplished it. Thre was another instance where Saj Saini, a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology explains the possibilities of teleportation in a TED talk. He explains about the possibilities of sending a baseball from one location to another.
....a baseball, for example, couldn't be sent by radio waves, but all the information about it could.
This research is not going to help humans because we are no way near human teleportation[3]. We still have a lot more to explore in terms of teleportation. With the information so far, we will not be able to conclude anything. Though there is still a significant amount of barrier to overcome, it is really worth to give it a try. But from the looks of it, we might be able to teleport a real object or even a living being in the near future. If something like that happens in the near future and if we are still alive to witness it, it will be our pleasure. If something like this becomes possible, the concept of creation can become questionable.

But how..?
My rationality prevents me from thinking about the possibilities of teleportation. Sending informations through cabled wires is nothing impossible. The How part can be effortlessly explained here. Case of proton is no different as there are some laws that govern their operations. But what about teleporting big objects? Is there any good explanations available? I have doubts.

We still have a long way to reach there @sathyasankar. So far the modern science has reached only a very basic level of understanding. It will take years to actually come up with something that is really working.
Scientists has always challenged the status quo. Bringing innovations that seeks to improve life. That's the more reason for teleportation i suppose. Thanks for such an educative article.
We still don't know if this innovation is going to be a boon or burden to our life. But for now let's just wait for some actual breakthrough to happen. Thanks for your comments @elmac.

Well quantum physics has indeed some crazy phenomenon just as the one you are describing with this article.
We are obviously a long way to go to understand this subjects, but hopefully one day we will.
