Essential oils are expensive to extract

What is the cost in terms of lives lost, days of work lost, medical care, etc--for mosquito-born diseases? I never heard of the plant oils before (as repellents), but that sounds like a miracle, one that perhaps shouldn't be left to 'companies'. I would think NGOs, governments, even the military would get onboard. Fascinating blog.
