The Golden State Warriors defended their home turf against the Houston Rockets on Sunday evening thanks to incredible performances from their stars and a hot third quarter. Kevin Durant had 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists while Steph Curry 35 points, 6 rebounds, and one assist on 13/23 shooting in a 126-85 demolition of Houston's mind, body, and soul.
The Rockets hopped out to an early lead in the first quarter, but Golden State struck back after a slow start. All of the Warriors starters were getting involved and scoring, while Houston got their initial buckets from Capela and Gordon. The refs weren't giving James Harden any of the fouls that he pined for, which threw him off his rhythm. Houston turned the ball over more in the first (7 to 4) which had an impact on their deficit. They were down 31-22 when the inaugural quarter came to a close.

The teams traded buckets throughout the first few minutes of the second, but Golden State kept the visitors at arm's length with a 10-point lead. Their stars hadn't heated up just yet. They were just passing the rock getting everyone involved. Their defense was also looking sharp too. Houston picked up where they left off in Game 2 in terms of ball movement, but the Warriors defense didn't give them any easy looks. Kevin Durant got his, but Steph Curry had yet to break out like many people expected. The Warriors held Houston to only 43 points while had 54 themselves heading into the second half.
The Warriors came out firing in the third, looking like the best third quarter team in the league. Steph Curry woke up and quickly scored twelve points on three-balls and cuts to the rim. They hopped out to a 19 point lead 64-45 as a result of their early aggression. James Harden and Chris Paul rallied the troops with scoring and facilitation to cut the deficit back down to 10. It looked like they were going back to their default iso and space the floor game plan.

Golden State just kept pouring it on though from three throughout the third. They were almost pushing a 30-point lead as the score sat at 56-84, but Chris Paul and Gerald Green played some nice two-man game and trimmed it to a 21-point deficit heading into the fourth 88-67. Curry had 18 points in the third alone and 27 total at that point. And the fourth quarter was just a continuation of the blowout. Golden State ended up prevailing 126-85.
The game looked within reach after the first two quarters, but then Warriors went full on Warrior on the Rockets. Chris Paul only shot 5/16 from the field to the tune of 13 points while Harden had 20 points on 7/16 shooting. The Rockets need their role players to come up huge if they're going to stand a chance this series, and Golden State's hot shooting was just too much for the supporting cast tonight. Game 4 will take place on Tuesday evening at Oracle Arena.

I was impressed, GS really turned it on.

Uh huh. Curry at home after two bad games was too much to handle

This morning I was very sad when I read this news.
Houston had a great team win some days ago, but last night they were something like invisible.
Game 4 will be very important: GS will be able to almost close the series and Rockets will be able to reopen it and restart everything frm gME 5 IN Houston.

Absolutely. If the warriors go up 3-1 don't think this Houston team has the power to come back. Really hope they have a good game so it's competitive

I know that most people were expecting a competitive game 3 like myself considering the result of game 2, but I think this will be a common theme for the remainder of the series. It is rare that 3 of the 4 Warriors stars have sub par nights as they did in game 2.

James Harden and Chris Paul will have to both show up in game 4 if they want a chance to even the series.

Rare indeed! I was shocked when it happened. Surprised it took two games for Curry to show up but he was ridiculous in that third quarter.
