Virginia Wins ACC and Likely Earns The Number One Overall Seed

Congratulations to the 2018 ACC Conference Tournament Champs, the Virginia Cavaliers! What an exciting night for the best team in the country and the have solidified their overall number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Selection Committee will now keep them close to home and give them the most favorable path to the Final 4.

Head coach Tony Bennett proved once again that he is the best defensive coach in the country. Virginia held the North Carolina high powered offense to one of their lowest totals of the year at 63 points. Luke Maye and Joel Berry II actually shot the ball ok but they got little help from anyone else. The UNC bench only produced 6 points and that is a huge concern for head coach Roy Williams. You simply can not make a deep post season run with no bench help.

As usual, Kyle Guy led the way for the Cavaliers. He had 16 points on 7-15 from the field and 2-4 from the 3 point line. Devon Hall added 15 points and played phenomenal on the defensive end.

North Carolina will probably find themselves on the number 2 line. Despite the loss, they have to feel great about their performance in the ACC Tournament. Virginia will be able to celebrate tonight’s win and anticipate their name being read as the top overall seed on Sunday night during the Selection Show.
