Victor Oladipo and Damian Lillard Named NBA Players of the Week

All-star guard Victor Oladipo is the real deal this season as he leads the supposedly rebuilding Pacers team to the playoffs in his first season with them. Victor Oladipo was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from March 26 to April 1. It is the third time he received the award winning it on December 11th and October 30th. He is also the first player in franchise history to win Player of the Week honors three times in a single season. Oladipo led the Pacers to a three straight road wins last week averaging 26 points, 6.7 dimes, 5 boards and 3.7 steals while shooting an efficient 67.4 percent from the field making 29 shots of his 43 attempts and 43.8 percent from beyond the arc making 7 three-pointers out of his 16 attempts.

The Pacers beat the undermanned Warriors 92-81 to open their week on Tuesday, March 27th. Oladipo finished with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals shooting 9 of 12 from the field. Oladipo was clutch in Thursday’s 106-103 win over the Sacramento Kings. He scored 13 of the last 19 points of the Pacers to lift the team to victory. Oladipo finished the game with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. And finally on Sunday, Oladipo displayed a spectacular performance on both ends of the floor recording 30 points, a season high 12 assists, 4 rebounds and 5 steals. Oladipo led the league in steals averaging 2.3 per game and he ranks 10th in the NBA in scoring averaging 23.3 per contest.

The league announced that Portland Trail Blazers all-star guard Damian Lillard has been named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games from March 26 to April 1. Lillard led the league in scoring average for the week with 28.3 points per game to go with 8.7 assists and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 46.9 percent from the field, 25.9 percent from three point territory and 94.7 percent from the free throw line. Portland clinched playoff berth with wins against the Pelicans, Clippers and Grizzlies. Lillard scored 41 points over the Pelicans and marked Portland’s seventh straight road win. Lillard followed that performance with 17 points and 11 assists on a win against the Clippers on March 30th and recorded his 10th double-double of the season. On April 1st, Lillard scored 27 points while dishing 9 assists and grabbing 3 rebounds to end the week. Furthermore, this is Lillard’s third time receiving the Player of the Week honorary this season.
