Rafael Nadal finally showed his ruthlessness in the US Open as defeated Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 in the fourth round of the tournament. The Spaniard took just an hour and 41 minutes to proceed to the quarterfinals where he will be facing the 19 year old sensation, Andrey Rublev. Before this match, Nadal had not produced a convincing enough performance which attracted everyone’s attention with respect to the favourites for the title. But the number one seed controlled the match right from the first serve till the last.
As the tournament is progressing, Nadal is just getting better and better. The 31 year old was serving well but it was his ability to draw a host of unforced errors and mistakes from Dolgopolov during the three sets that ultimately handed him the win. After the match, the Spaniard was brimming with delight as he was feeling confident after a great performance on the court.

The swashbuckling player had failed to reach the quarter final stage of the US Open since 2013 but this time it was not to be. Motivated by the fact that a semifinal clash against arch rival Roger Federer is on the cards, even though Nadal denies to talk about it, the fans watching from the stands will be cheering on for both of this generation’s greats.
But it would not be a walk in the park for either of the two. While Federer faces Juan Martin del Potro in the last eight, Nadal will be facing the world number 53, Rublev. The Russian teenager has had a fantastic year as he reached his career high ranking of 49 and has even spoken of being fearless and going into the match with nothing to lose.
I'll be going to the Open tonight! Not sure if I'm more excited for the Fuku burger or for Federer's match...
Actually Federer plays tomorrow anyway. I'll be seeing Querry v Anderson and a Venus Williams match... still more excited for the Fuku burger
Keep up the good work @steemsports 😁
Nadal won't be stopped
