The January Transfer Window - which is the mid-season transfer window in European Football competition - is about to witness some sizzling transfer deals.
Many clubs hoping to fortify themselves for the second half of the season would enter the market to shop for players suited to their game plans and requirements.
Most deals would certainly involve players leaving their clubs, only to be replaced. While some deals would be done essentially to cover up for club players who have been hit with long term injuries, some of which would see them miss out on the reminder of the season.
Focusing on Defenders – the ‘Transfer Fees’ for defenders have caught the attention of football enthusiasts in the last couple of seasons, as defenders have now started costing huge transfer fees; a development which wasn’t previously part of the football scene.

If you asked anyone at the beginning of the season that Liverpool would shell out 75 million pounds for a defender, they would probably think you are crazy but it is officia.Liverpool not Mncity, not utd, not psg, not chelsea, not madrid have the most expensive defender in world football.
No doubt, Van Dijk is a very quality defender but is he worth that much money? would he be considered to be among the top 5 defenders in the world?, these are questions that need answers.
Most of them failed to meet high expectations which come from the huge publicity because of the transfer figures. I really hope van Dijk will make a difference in Liverpool.
Yes @nexa, you are right. Such huge transfer fees, come with a great the of pressure on the players. Time would tell if Virgil van Dijk can justify the huge sum paid for him.
Time will tell, but it's not this season that should judge but next season. Don't get me wrong if he performs the remember of this season kudos and bonus to Liverpool, but if not, Liverpool management should be patient like Mourinho was patient with Pogba. Cos I believe van dijk is a very good player and he would justify the price.

I agree with you @errajesh. Both players are quite exceptional. Sadly though, David Luiz isn't having the best of times at Chelsea.
