The Cubs and Cardinal get ready for Game 2 of their double header

The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals are playing two today! The Cubs took game one of the double header and they are now getting ready for the night cap. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15pm Central Standard Time and the game can be seen on National Television on FOX. It will take place at Wrigley Field and there is rain in the forecast but it should move through the area quickly. The Cubs are small favorites at -132 and the over/under is 8.5 runs.

The St. Louis Cardinals were feeling great when they woke up this morning. They put an 18-5 beat down on the Cubs on Friday afternoon. But they did not fare as well today and lost 7-2 in the first game of the double header. Luke Weaver only made it through 4 innings and the Cardinals bullpen was a bit taxed and had to use 3 pitchers.

Tonight they will send John Grant to the mound. He is 3-3 so far on the year with an ERA of 3.49 and a WHIP of 1.12. His arm is well rested as he hasn’t pitched since before the All-Star break.

The Cubs were led by Ben Zobrist four hits and Javier Baez 3 hits today in the first game. Tyler Chatwood also pitched great and that is a wonderful sign for Chicago. He has struggled so far this year and was one of the few weak spots in the first half of the season.

Mike Montgomery will get the start at pitcher tonight as the Cubs try to sweep the double header. He is also 3-3 on the year and his ERA is 3.91 with a WHIP of 1.28.

The fifth and final game of the Cubs vs Cardinals series will be tomorrow afternoon.
