Rodney Hood Comes Back to the Cavaliers

Rodney Hood agrees to sign a one-year qualifying offer to return to Cleveland Cavaliers. Hood was a restricted free agent and will return to Cleveland announced by the team on Monday. This report was according to Shams Charania of Yahoo sports and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Hood explored some sign-and-trade options but he’s hopes of an offer sheet of $10 million to $12 million never materialized. He’s value took a major downfall after a no show in the playoffs for the Cavs last season.

The Cavs extended the $3.4 million qualifying offer to Hood on June 29. Now Hood will be an unrestricted free agent next summer by signing this deal. Hood was acquired by the Cavaliers from the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline where General Manager Koby Altman made major trades to strengthen Cavs roster in preparation for the playoffs.

Rodney Hood is a good shooter and a good 2 guard with his size. He can drive to the basket and create his own shot. He has been performing well with Utah before he got traded to the Cavs. Rodney’s game in Cleveland becomes different. He’s role has change and he got limited touches and limited minutes. I still believe Hood is a great player. He’s only 25 and can develop if given a chance. He averaged 10.8 points per game in 21 regular season games with the Cavaliers.

Now is his chance to prove himself and develop his skills. He can be one of the best scorers in Cleveland’s roster right now and he can help Kevin Love get buckets. We will see how good Hood can be this upcoming season.
