Robert Whittaker who is the middleweight champion of the world unfortauntely got injured and wasn't able to make the fight date with Luke Rockhold. Many of the Aussie fans may be disappointed, but Yoel Romero as a fill in still makes for a an absolutely spectacular fight.
Perth, Australia hosts its first UFC event although this won't be the first time UFC has visited the continent. The Aussie cards are always stacked with new talent and veterans alike from the indigenous coast. Mark Hunt is a perennial heavyweight, and huge part of the Aussie market.
Luke will have his hands full on his second fight back, but earlier in the night we get back to the heavyweights...and the pride of Samoa in Mark Hunt. The legendary kickback fought hard for his place back in the fight organization, and now he has his wish of possible contention.
Mark has never quite been able to reach the pinnacle of heavyweight in the modern era. Mark has always had his fair share of odd losses (see Melvin Manhoef), but he always been able to put down those who are inexperienced or simply not durable enough for his nuclear right hand.
Hunt's style is one that works quite well for the big boy division; a solid stance with immense power in both hands along with having the physique of a boulder whose nearly impossible to take down. Mark's upcoming opponent in Curtis Blaydes will be looking for that takedown all fight...
We will see how far Mark has regressed in his time off and damage taken, we will also see the evolutions Curtis has made in both his striking and wrestling, and a win over Mark would solidify a top 8 ranking for the young man. I actually see Curtis doing well in this one.. we will have to see!
Very good post
no doubt mark is always reinventing fight after fight, as we know that these heavyweight fights are a bit annoying because they tire quickly fighters but this fight against curtis will be a great show,
This is great news about this scheduled duel. I always look with great pleasure on the skill of this big guy Mark and I watched almost all of his confrontations from the time he appeared in the K-1 tournament. I like his killing and exciting fighting style; even though, that now he is an old aged warrior, but he always has the chance to upset for any opponent by one punch ;)
Can't wait to see Hunt fight again that dude is entertaining as hell. Incredible drawings too
