Panarin’s Hat Trick Aids in Blue Jackets 9th Consecutive Victory

Atremi Panarin’s hat trick stretched the Jackets winning streak to 9 consecutive, while tallying 4/15 of the points he’s scored in their winning streak, against the Rangers, last evening. Alexander Wennberg, who waited in the slot, obtained a pass from behind the net, took his precious time and slid one past Lundqvist’s eyes. Wennberg scored the lone goal of the first period of regulation, and Vanek snatched his 29th assist of the season while Ryan Murray tallied his 8th. Artemi Panarin put the Jackets on top 2-0 with a stellar shot on goal, set up beautifully by Ian Cole who received a pass from Mark Letesu.
In surprising fashion, Kevin Hayes brought the Rangers fans to their feet as he scored his first short-handed goal of the season, skating alongside Jesper Fast on the penalty kill unit. Subsequently, Markus Nutivaara scored his 3rd point in the last three games, and his fifth goal on the season as the Blue Jackets extended their lead to 3-1.
Mike Zibanejad brought the game back within one point as he drilled a power-play goal by Bobrovosky. Panarin followed up Zibanejad’s goal with his second of the evening, before Kreider would bring the game back within one for the fourth time in the game kudos to the Rangers second consecutive power-play goal. Artemi scored his hat trick with two seconds remaining as the Rangers pulled their goalie in hopes that the extra attacker would equalize the game. Columbus won the game 5-3.
