Orioles Late Rally Falls Short to Kansas City’s 15 Runs

After falling 15-1 by the 6th inning, Baltimore had only one option, which was to take on a rally endeavor. They tacked on 6 points by the the final out in the ninth inning. Even with the odds being in their favor, the Orioles managed to lose their seventh consecutive. Meanwhile, the Royals won their fourth/five most recent games. Baltimore embarrassingly owns a 8-27 record and the former World Series Champions, the Royals are sitting in fourth place in the AL Central with a 12-23 record.

Danny Duffy pitched the finest game of the season, earning his first win. Through 5.1 innings, the “Duf Man” allowed 6 batters to board the bags, he walked two men, allowed only 1 run to pass home, and struck out a handful of batters. Better yet, Duffy’s ERA dropped from a high 5 to a low 5. He will revisit the mound on Sunday in Cleveland. Burch Smith and Blaine Boyer almost gave the game away, as they aggregated 6 runs allowed.

No surprises were witnessed from the Orioles pitching staff. Dylan Bundy gave up 7 runs, which made it two 7 runs games in a row. Bundy didn’t even get one out before an early replacement came with Wright Jr. getting the cold bullpen nod (didn’t have much time to warm up). Wright Jr. made it through 4.2 innings, allowing 8 men to hit the ball, and 5 runs to cross the plate. Pedro Arajuo was the final Oriole to give up runs, with 3 total through 2.1 innings.

Mike Moustakas had the Royals most prominent performance, cracking 2 home runs and driving in 5 of their 15 runs. Former Cub, Jorge Soler hit his 3rd home run of the season. Salvador Perez also knocked his third ball past the outfielders. Alex Gordon matched Soler and Perez’s 3rd homerun with one of his own. This Royals team doesn’t hit many homers at home, as they have one of the worst hitter ballparks in the MLB, but when they are on the road, they let them fly.
