Marchand, Bruins Ravaged Canadiens on Home Ice

Brad Marchand, the Bruins superstar in a sense scored a goal and racked an assist in an overall combined team effort to grab the dub. Under a minute into the game, the visiting team managed to put the crowd in a silent state as the Canadiens rookie defense-man scored his first goal of his NHL career, respectively playing on the same line with two of the C's best players in Charles Hudon and Paul Byron. Shortly after this at the 6 minute mark, Boston answered and awakened their crowd with a Pastrnak goal, Bergeron and Marchand grabbed the assists on his goal.

The second period was the least responsive period for both teams, but more so for the Canadiens and Spooner managed to get an early goal, assists were tallied to Krejci and DeBrusk. Then, in the third period, all hell was set loose for the Bruins as Marchand scored the lone power play goal off a one-timer, and Krejci sealed the deal with an empty net goal, unusually the Canadiens pulled their goal with 4 minutes still remaining.

Bookmakers predicted a Boston victory, and the Bruins lived true to the expectations. This match-up had the average NHL O/U at 5.5 and came in just short with the final total coming in at 5. Boston, second in the utterly competitive Atlantic division, come in at second, trailing the LIghtning by only a few points, and in their last 5, they grabbed 3 victories and gave up 2.

The Canadians are trailing the pack in the Atlantic division as well, and this game brought their tempo down even more, as they are now riding a 3 game losing streak. They'll look for an answer when they travel to Washington to take on Ovy, and the Capitals in which I envisage a detrimental outcome for the C's.
