With the victory, Seattle won yet another series and during the past month of May, the Mariners have put up a consistent flow of winning a game, followed by a loss. Seattle now occupies the third place position in the AL West, and they are only 1.5 games from being the prominent leaders. Toronto, on the other hand, is in an extremely unfavorable position in the AL East as they have two powerhouse teams ahead of them in the Red Sox and Yankees.
Mike Leake took on the pitching duty, and came out of the game with his 4th win of the year, climbing ahead of his previous .500 record. Through 7 innings, Leake let 6 men come in contact with the ball, 1 walk, 2 runs scored, and struck out 6 batters. Mike Leake will be reivisiting the mound on Tuesday as they host the Rangers.
J.A. Happy carried out his most inferior performance of the season. 10 hits, 2 walks, and 7 runs crossing the plate during 3.1 innings was enough to hand him his second consecutive defeat and mark up his ERA to just below 5 at 4.80. Happ’s record now resides at 4-3, and he will look to knock on another win on Wednesday in New York as the play the Mets.
Kyle Seager blasted a grand slam in the first inning, and 4 innings later, he dropped another homer, this time a solo blast, into deep center field. Ryon Healy and Mike Zunino matched Seagers solo blast with one of their own. Jean Segura finished the game with the most hits, going 4/6. Russel Martin was the only Blue Jay who provided a decent feat, as he hit one homerun and drove in 2/3 of the Jays runs.
