Friday evening came and went, which means the Big Three Basketball League by Ice Cube hosted another night of exciting 3-on-3 action between retired NBA legends. This week, we saw the last two undefeated teams in the league go at it for the top spot on the leaderboard, in addition to seeing our share of chippiness and wild plays in the other matchups as well.
Week Four's action took place where the Detroit Pistons play, in Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit, Michigan. There are four more weeks until playoff time rolls around on August 17th. Every team still has something to play for at this point, even if they're without a win. Other teams can go on a cold streak which will free up spots for new squads.

Our first game was a battle between Trilogy and Killer Three's. Less than five minutes into the game, the audience was blessed with a rejection of Metta World Peace, formerly Ron Artest. He was upset and punted the basketball into the stands. Out of all the places that he decides to get testy, it's funny he did it in front of the fans who root for the team where the Malice at the Palace took place! The Killer Three's never got back into the game, as Trilogy prevailed easily 39-52.

The second game of the night featured 3's Company and Ball Hogs. Both were two middling teams who were looking to cop a solid win to bulk their record up. 3's Company were the victors by a margin of 10, 50-40, led by 15 big points from DeMarr Johnson. Baron Davis also pitched in 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Ball Hogs were led by 14 points from Jermaine Taylor, with DeShawn Stevenson pitching in 11 as well. Baron Davis did incur a quad injury which kept him out of the rest of the game's action, and he will be evaluated later.

And for the most exciting game of the night, 3 Headed Monsters emerged victorious over Tri-State in a neck-and-neck battle of the top two seeds. Shareef Abdul-Rauf made an excellent pocket pass on the final play to a rolling Woods to eek away 50-48. Abdul-Rauf made the game-winning shot last week, and he had his hands all over the winning play this time too. They're now the only undefeated team in the league and holder of the #1 seed. David Hawkins had a great game for Trie-State with 15 points and 3 rebounds, but he couldn't grab the victory this time around.

For the final game of the night, we saw the high seeded Power squad take on lower ranked Ghost Ballers. Power came in and took care of business in a 50-45 victory thanks again to the large contributions of Corey Magette (19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal). Carlos Boozer battled for Ghost Ballers with 15 points and 16 big rebounds, but they remain at the bottom of the barrel with an 0-4 record after Friday's loss. Week Five of the Big Three League will take place next Friday at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

I haven't following the Big 3 yet too much but probably will now that the World Cup is done. In your opinion, who do you think is the best team and best player thus far? Seems like the league is off to a good start...

Best team I'd have to go with 3 headed Monsters, they just beat Tri State to remain the only undefeated team. 3-Headed are the team to beat right now. Best player...hmm it's hard. Mahmoud Abdul Rauf has been clutch as hell for 3-Headed, but I've seen Cory Magette put up some big games on the stat sheet. His teams have lost those games though. He scored like 37 the other week, and games end when a team hits 50 and wins by more than 2.
